Did Disney Just Drop the Opening Date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?

In June 2020, while all its theme parks were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney shocked and angered fans around the world when it announced that its iconic attraction, Splash Mountain, would be permanently closing at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. Disney said that the attraction was not going away. Instead, it was going to receive a Princess and the Frog (2009) retheme.

It’s been nearly four years since the announcement, and in February 2024, Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would be opening at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme park this summer!

Last week, Disney dropped a ton of Walt Disney World Resort news on fans. The company announced a new nighttime show coming to Disney Springs, a new Inside Out (2015) attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and a rare character meet and greet at Animal Kingdom. They also shared that CommuniCore Hall would be opening and a new Encanto (2021) stage show was coming to “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”

It was A LOT of information for fans to take in all at once. But it also had some wondering. Did Disney also just secretly reveal the opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?

CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will open on June 10. The rare Animal Kingdom character meet and greet will also begin on June 10. As if that is not enough, the Inside Out attraction will also open on June 10 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios AND the Encanto stage show will ALSO BEGIN JUNE 10.

So, each Disney World theme park will have something new happening on June 10, EXCEPT at Magic Kingdom Park, where Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is located. Could that be because Disney is planning on opening Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that day? Guests are sure to flood the theme park in an attempt to ride the new attraction.

Disney knows that not everyone who wants to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on its opening day will be able to. The ride will most likely utilize a virtual and Individual Lightning Lane access.

However, Disney does not want the guests who don’t get into the virtual queue to feel like they are missing the one new thing at the parks.

So, why not open a bunch of other new Disney Park attractions and experiences on the same day?! That way, guests will also want to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom.

June 10 is going to be a BIG day at Walt Disney World Resort. And it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Disney will make it even more memorable by opening Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that day as well.
