During Hurricane Milton’s unexpected shutdown, a Disney character, Pluto, amassed attention for uplifting spirits among stuck Disney Resort hotel guests. While many guests faced the uncertainty of the hurricane, Pluto turned what could have been a dreary experience into a celebration of joy.

Amid the preparations for the storm, Pluto initiated a whimsical afternoon of entertainment right in the Disney Resort hotel lobby. In a TikTok video by @emilyelr, the Disney character played peek-a-boo and gave a mock timeshare selling pitch at the Disney Vacation Club kiosk.

On October 9, the Disney parks were closed early due to safety concerns. Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom all shut down to protect guests and cast members. The parks remained closed on October 10.

Safety Measures Implemented

In anticipation of Hurricane Milton, safety measures were put in place. Guests were equipped with detailed information regarding the hurricane and were offered numerous resources to ensure comfort during their stay. Disney Resort hotels arranged special cast member coverage and ensured guests had access to essentials, including food, amidst uncertain weather conditions.
