“Disgusting” Guests Break New Disney Ride, Permanently Damage Property

Continuing an unfortunate trend, one of the newer rides at Disneyland has been severely damaged, with certain fans calling out the “disgusting” guests responsible.

While there may be several amazing Disney resort locations and destinations across the globe, none can truly compare to the magic found at the original Disneyland Resort. This California vacation spot has been one of the most popular places for families to visit since it first opened back in 1955. While it is quickly approaching the 75-year-old mark, we can honestly say it’s only gotten better with age, giving guests something new to look forward to each and every year.

One of the recent upgrades was Avengers Campus, a Marvel-themed land at Disney California Adventure. Here, guests are encouraged to live out their very own superhero fantasies or supervillain fantasies if they wish. Guests will interact with iconic characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Loki, and Spider-Man.

However, the Disneyland Resort is also home to a brand-new dark ride.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a ride that first opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. This ride replaced the former attraction The Great Movie Ride, and while we are still saddened by the loss of this “great” attraction, there’s no denying that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a captivating and unique experience that’s fun for the whole family.

In 2023, the ride was brought over to the Disneyland Resort as part of the major upgrades given to Mickey’s Toontown section of Disneyland Park. Along with new areas to explore, West Coast Guests could now experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway for themselves.

The ride is a dark ride, something Disney is known for. However, this attraction is also a trackless experience, meaning guests swirl around each other during the ride. Guests join Mickey and Minnie for the perfect picnic, but like most theme park rides, something goes wrong. Goofy takes guests on a journey to reunite with Minnie and Mickey as they encounter some breathtaking locations and scenery.

The ride is excellent and is a perfect addition to Mickey’s Toontown. The queue is amazing, too, far surpassing the original version at Walt Disney World. Guests waiting in line will find dozens of easter eggs and various details that make waiting actually kind of fun. From Mickey-shaped popcorn to a giant beanstalk breaking through the roof, there are a ton of amazing details packed into this queue. Unfortunately, a lot of these details and theming elements have been damaged, and it’s because of guests.

Photo evidence of the destruction was shared on X (Twitter) by @Ryanthemepark, and we have to say that we are incredibly disappointed.

Some areas of the queue have been damaged and potentially marked with pens or markers.

Some areas were completely dysfunctional at the time of publishing this article. The main “concessions” sign has also been damaged.

This attraction is less than a year old, making the current state it’s in that much more depressing. We truly hope that Disney is able to fix this queue very soon, but we also hope that guests please keep their hands to themselves and refrain from damaging it even further.

One user commented on these photos, saying, “I was in line and watched a family attempt to yank, hit, pound and touch everything within their reach. They were disgusting.”

Walt Disney Imagineering knows that whatever they design must be designed to be able to withstand millions of guests. Certain areas of the parks and rides are designed to be touched hundreds of thousands of times a day, while others remain roped off from guests. One of the most popular ways to “damage” Disney park property is by throwing coins onto attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world.

Another great example of bad guest behavior is the immense amount of hair ties and headbands thrown to the side of Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
