Disney Guests Hit by Cleaning Powder, Vomit on Theme Park Ride

Ever wondered about the grossest things that can happen behind the magic at Disney? A former Disney cast member recently shared one jaw-dropping story from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that you won’t soon forget.

In response to a question on social media about the most shocking incidents in theme parks, X (formerly Twitter) user Mike Bounds (@mbounds) opened up about one particularly stomach-churning experience he witnessed while working at Disney’s iconic runaway train ride.

“While working at Big Thunder, a guest threw up in the first seat of the last car,” Bounds recalled. The cleanup response? Well, things didn’t quite go as planned…

“[A Cast Member] poured a bag of VOBAN on it, loaded the last two seats, and dispatched the train. When the train returned, the guests in those seats were covered in flecks of VOBAN!”

For the uninitiated, VOBAN is a potent absorbent powder Disney custodians use to tackle spills, especially the unsavory kind involving bodily fluids. It works by solidifying and deodorizing the mess, allowing cast members to more easily clean up biohazards. But as this story proves, sometimes things don’t go quite as planned!

Bounds didn’t clarify if this Big Thunder Mountain Railroad mishap happened at Disneyland Park in Southern California or Magic Kingdom in Central Florida, but one thing is certain: those guests got a “wild ride” they weren’t expecting!

If you ever see unsanitary or unsafe behavior in a Disney Park, remember that cast members are there to help. Let the nearest Disney cast member know, and they can quickly page custodial, security, or any other team needed to take care of the issue.
