Another Disney Price Hike: Flying to This Park Will Cost More Starting in October

Flying to visit one Disney theme park is set to get even more expensive from October.
Disney price hikes have become as much of a tradition as rope drop. In recent years, everything from park tickets to food and merch has seen regular increases, making a trip to the parks more expensive than ever. Single-day admission at Disneyland and Disney World has jumped multiple times, with even Disney CEO Bob Iger sharing his concerns that visiting the parks has become too expensive (if only he could do something about that…)

It’s not just tickets. Disney has not only eliminated its free line-skipping service FastPass, but introduced the pricey alternative Lightning Lanes as its replacement. Even classic Disney snacks aren’t safe. Everything from the iconic Mickey-shaped ice cream bar to churros, Dole Whips, and popcorn have climbed in price, along with merchandise, hotel rates, and even stroller rentals.
While Disney argues that these increases help maintain the parks and deliver premium experiences, fans have been vocal about whether the magic is still worth the mounting cost. It doesn’t help that even costs beyond Disney’s control are surging, with airline prices reportedly jumping by 25% in 2024.

Disney Guests Set To Be Hit By Airport Tax Increases
Now, yet another price increase is set to hit those visiting one international park.
Hong Kong International Airport – the only operating civil airport serving Hong Kong and, by default, Hong Kong Disneyland – has announced that it will raise its Air Passenger Departure Tax (APDT).
Effective from the third quarter of 2025-26, the tax is set to jump from HKD 120 ($15.43) to HKD 200 ($25.71). This applies to all flight tickets purchased after October 1, 2025.

The increase has been introduced as a way to address the financial deficit. It’s thought that it will generate an extra HKD 1.6 billion ($205 million) in government revenue every year.
That means that guests over the age of 12 flying to visit Hong Kong Disneyland will pay more for their airfare. Some passengers are exempt from the increase and can receive a refund of their paid APDT through the government’s Civil Aviation Department.

Should I Still Visit the Disney Park?
Sure, in the grand scheme of international airfare to Hong Kong, this bump might not seem like a big deal. But when everything tied to a Disney vacation keeps getting pricier—tickets, hotels, food, and even Lightning Lane upgrades—it’s just another hit to the wallet.
But don’t let that put you off ever visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. It may be the smallest of Disney’s resorts worldwide, but it still has plenty to offer. From its newest land, World of Frozen, to its unique Marvel area – Stark Expo – located within Tomorrowland, the Disney park is one of the most charming dotted across the globe.
