An Overview of Disney World's 8 Deluxe Resort Hotels

Grand Floridian Resort

6. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

While much younger than the former two, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa stands along with Disney’s Contemporary and Polynesian Village as being one of the great three Deluxe resorts located on the monorail line leading into the Magic Kingdom. The doors officially opened back in 1988, but the elegant grace and décor encompassing the walls and overall architectural style here would easily make one think it was actually established around the year 1888 instead. That’s because the hotel directly draws inspiration from the grand estates and resorts that once dotted the area during what was once Florida’s Golden Age, circa the late 19th/early 20th century. And it’s still a golden age, or rather a golden experience, for any guest electing to stay here. To start, there are a variety of different room distinctions that all offer the finest amenities and furnishings. And let’s not forget all those unique activities and recreations to take in. Swimming, arcade games, onsite courts, jogging, and outdoor movies and campfires are just the beginning. There’s just so much to see and do at Disney’s Grand Floridian! It’s even the departure point for many specialty cruise offerings Disney World is known for as well as private motorized boat rentals, including the famous Grand 1 Yacht.

Those who enjoy unwinding with a first-rate pampering spa experience can take delight in a wide range of treatments to be had at Senses—Grand Floridian’s own full-service spa and health club. The relaxed setting of Victorian charm and décor in combination with tranquil music and an overall peaceful, rejuvenating atmosphere is sure to relax anyone. Whether you come seeking a soothing facial, revitalizing massage, body wrap, or aromatherapy services, Senses will meet your specific needs. The health center also features a fitness center available to guests 24 hours a day and offering all the latest state-of-the-art equipment. And in addition to taking care of the body and soul, the Ivy Trellis Salon is a great way to pamper your outward appearance. Women, men, and even children can enjoy a whole range of services, including hair, makeup, and other grooming techniques. Children especially can delight in the various Character Couture Packages offered here, including the Storybook Style, Magical Makeover, and Timeless Transformation.

While there are so many innumerable experiences that serve to distinguish the Grand Floridian as one of Disney World’s most highly sought-after resorts, perhaps the most renowned attributes are dished out in the form of vast dining indulgences. You’ll find something to suit any palate, from elegant and refined tastes to family-friendly fun and folly. Victoria & Albert’s is perhaps one of the most widely known options for award-winning cuisine in a most stellar, upscale setting. While the main dining room and pristine dishware are stunning enough, there are also options available to arrange for a private dining experience for you and a select number of guests right in the heart of the kitchen at what is known as the Chef’s Table. Another intimate dining experience great for couples can be had in the Queen Victoria Dining Room. Other phenomenal signature dining destinations available onsite include Cítricos and Narcoossee’s. The first presents delectable Mediterranean fare award-winning wines, and even special multi-course private dining with the chef. The latter is a stand-alone edifice overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon and offering some of the most exquisite seafood fare (and land options as well). Another favorite, more family-friendly culinary endeavor is taking in one of two character dining experiences at 1900 Park Fare. Tuck into a most Supercalifragilistic Breakfast dished up in delightful buffet fashion while mingling with Mary Poppins, Alice and the Mad Hatter, and Tigger and Pooh. Then save room for dinner (also a buffet) with Cinderella, Prince Charming, stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, and the infamous Lady Tremaine. Additionally, Disney’s Grand Floridian offers many other options for dining as well, including special themed tea parties for kids!
