Disney Resort Falls Short of Expectations Despite Exceptional Cast Members
While a Disney guest mentioned thoroughly enjoying their time at the parks, one aspect of their Disney vacation was less than satisfactory.
Enjoying one’s time at the Disney Parks comes at a steep price for many. With recent price increases at Disney World and Disneyland, being able to afford a Disney vacation has become trickier, and because of this, when things don’t go according to plan at Disney, it can be quite frustrating.

Guest Shares Frustrating Experience at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
A guest took to social media recently to share a frustrating experience at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. They explained how many different aspects of their time staying at Disney’s Polyneisan was less than “deluxe” starting with check-in.
The guest wrote, “Our time here didn’t feel super deluxe. Check in was sort of a mess (they were training new employees but at one point the trainer and trainee just sort of walked away leaving another person to try and figure out where we were in the check in process). Overall check in took us almost 45 minutes.”

This was unfortunately not all. The hotel was taking so long to bring them their bags they ended up doing it themselves. The guest commented, “I get that they’re busy but I’ve never stayed in a hotel that cost even half of what this did where I had to schlep my own bags to the room.”
While ther were highlights: the hotel’s pool, being able to see fireworks from their room, and wonderful food, some of the frustrating experiences took away from these highlights.
The guest was also quick to underline that the cast members were amazing and it wasn’t their fault this happened.

Guests were quite sympathetic and also sympathized with how Disney doesn’t always live up to their promised experiences.
One wrote,
Deluxe at WDW unfortunately only really means deluxe relative to other WDW hotels. They’re kind of a joke compared to actual deluxe hotels outside of the Disney bubble.
You’re basically paying a premium to be close to the parks and inside the Disney bubble. The “Disney difference” doesn’t mean the same thing that it used to. It used to mean they went out of their way to give you all that they could, service-wise. Now it means you pay more for less, because “it’s Disney”.
That’s not a knock at all against the cast members. It’s more that the company has changed in its attitude toward consumers.
Please note that this is just one guest experience at Disney and no two experiences are alike. Further, this story does not reflect on Disney Fanatic’s views on park operations.
