5 Things We LOVE That Disney Is Doing

We absolutely love our vacations to Walt Disney World and part of that is because of how Disney makes us feel special.  There are some great experiences happening at Walt Disney World right now and we are going to look at five that we absolutely love.

Mobile Order

This might seem silly, but mobile ordering has changed our dining experience at Walt Disney World.  We used to always get worked up when it came to getting ready to eat at a quick-service location, but now with mobile ordering, that stress has been taken away.

In the My Disney Experience app, Guests are able to find the mobile ordering feature.  This allows Guests to choose their dining location such as Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, pick a time for their meal like 11:30-11:45 am, and then place their order.  At 11:30, Guests can then select the “Prepare My Order” button alerting Disney Cast Members that they can make the food.  Once it is ready, Guests receive a notice that they can pick up their food at a specific location.

What makes this feature so amazing is that you can place your order for lunch and dinner early in the morning.  We love doing this as we then know we have a time slot for meals scheduled in our day and won’t have to fight the crowds during meal time.

Mobile ordering can be used throughout the Walt Disney World Resort at a variety of locations both in the four Disney Parks as well as in the Disney Resorts.  We absolutely love this feature and are so glad that Disney has made it so easy to navigate and use.

Early Entry

We have always been a fan of the mornings at Walt Disney World.  Our kids never seem to sleep in so getting to a Disney Park early in the morning isn’t an issue.  We love that Disney is now offering early entry at all four Disney Parks each morning.

Previously Disney offered extra magic hours at one specific Disney Park in the morning.  This was an hour when Disney Resort Guests could get into the Park early.  This issue here became that because it was one specific Disney Park. those that took advantage of it were all at one Park.

Now, Disney is offering early entry at all four Disney Parks.  This has all four Disney Parks opening to Disney Resort Guests thirty minutes early.  Even those it is less time, the fact that all four Disney Parks are available really spreads out the crowds making it easier to take advantage of this perk.

Memory Maker

One feature that we have always loved that we always add to our Walt Disney World vacation package is Memory Maker.  For $169, Guests can add this feature to their package and with it get all the photos taken throughout their Walt Disney World vacation.

These photos include on-ride photos, photos with Disney’s amazing PhotoPass Photographers as well as both photos with magic shots and the new special effects photos.

I think of these photos as my souvenir from the trip as they capture so many amazing memories.  I love seeing our on-ride photos and enjoy capturing our family together throughout the Disney Parks.

There is something truly magical about having these pictures and Memory Maker is something that I absolutely love that Disney has for Guests.

Individual Lightning Lanes

This one might be a bit controversial, but hear me out.  One of the new features that I appreciate from Disney is the Individual Lightning Lanes.  As part of the new Disney Genie, Guests can choose to purchase an individual lightning lane for select attractions in each of the four Disney Parks.  Currently, there are four rides included:

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT)
  • Avatar Flight of Passage (Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)

In order to bypass the standby lines for these specific rides, Guests can purchase a lightning lane.  Prices range from $7 to $17 per day per person and Guests can have up to two, but only one per ride.

Although we would prefer not to have to pay, we do appreciate being able to pay extra to ensure we get to experience these fantastic rides during our vacation.  Knowing that the lines for these extremely popular rides will be up to two hours every day if not longer, we feel like it is worth it to purchase the individual lightning lane.  Doing so not only gives a specific ride time for these two rides but also gives us the chance to experience other rides and shows in Disney Park since we aren’t waiting in line.

Creating Magic

After a few tough years, we love that Walt Disney World is back creating the magic for families each and every day.  It isn’t easy as things have changed and requirements are different, but we love that Disney and the amazing Disney Cast Members work hard to create magic for families.

Each vacation we take to Walt Disney World we see the magic happening and it makes us happy to see as we visit.

There are always things that can be adjusted at Walt Disney World to make things better, but we also see a lot of great things that we love happening.  We are grateful for the magic and pixie dust that Disney continues to bring to us each and every vacation.

Jennifer Retzlaff

Jennifer became a lifelong Disney fan during her first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of her life. She quickly started to introduce her love of Disney to her family with a Disney honeymoon and then family trips when her youngest was 18 months old. She loves the magic that Disney brings to people through theme parks, cruises, and adventures. As a teacher, she tries to bring Disney magic into her classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” She is also part of the Magic Vacation Planner team as a personal travel advisor. With this team, she can now help others plan magical vacations. She loves bringing her love to Disney to readers with How to Disney.
