2. The Contemporary
The Contemporary is one monorail stop away from the Magic Kingdom as well, and is the only hotel in which the monorail actually runs through the middle of the main building. This makes it a very unique and fun place to stay. It's the only resort from which you can walk directly to the Magic Kingdom, making it a very popular place. The styling at the Contemporary is sleek and modern, but don't let that fool you - there is plenty of Disney magic to be found as well. The Contemporary is home to Chef Mickey's, one of the most beloved character dining restaurants on property, with the Fab Five showing up every morning and night for breakfast and dinner buffets. The California Grill has the best views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks (as well as excellent food!) if you time your dining reservation to coincide with them. There are a couple of counter-service casual restaurants as well. The gift shop, Fantasia, is second to none - our family usually goes there to pick out our souvenirs. There is so much to do at the Contemporary, which has two pools and multiple water play areas for kids, a marina, tennis courts and even a beach volleyball area. You can catch the Electrical Water Pageant here too, from the Bay Lake beach area. The Contemporary is a great place to stay to be right in the middle of all the magic.Â
