2022 to See MORE Changes in Walt Disney World
We all know that the magic in Walt Disney World is constantly changing and adjusting. New rides, shows, and dining are constantly opening giving Guests, even more, to see and do during their Disney vacations.
We are excited that there will be even more changes in Walt Disney World in 2022. Let’s break down what we can look forward to in the coming months at Walt Disney World.
Get excited everyone- hugs are back! Walt Disney World has worked hard since reopening in 2020 to keep Guests and Cast Members safe and that has included modifications when it came to character meet and greets.
When the Parks first opened, we had limited interactions with characters. Slowly however we have seen more and more characters reintroduced to the Parks.
Cavalcades, small mini-parades, became a huge hit as Guests were able to quickly see a variety of characters as they passed by in the Theme Parks.
We also were able to see characters from a distance as they interacted with Guests from areas such as the train station in Magic Kingdom.
But just recently, Walt Disney World (along with Mickey Mouse himself) announced that we will be moving back to normal meet and greets on April 18th. This means we will once again be able to hug Mickey Mouse!
Although Disney has said that not all meet and greets will be transitioning on April 18th, we are thrilled to know that we will once again be able to get autographs, hugs, and pictures with our favorite Disney characters.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Opens
One of the most anticipated announcements of 2022 was around the new coaster in EPCOT. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be welcoming Guests starting on May 27th.
This first-ever reverse-launch coaster in Walt Disney World is sure to be a huge fan favorite. We can’t wait to rock along with the soundtrack and see all the Planet Xandar has to offer.
Minnie Vans Return
We are thrilled that these adorable vans themed like our beloved Minnie Mouse will be back on the property this summer. Although we haven’t been given a lot of details about what this service will look like, we are happy to know it will once again be an option.
Minnie Vans is a ride share service run through the Lyft app that allows Guests to travel in style around Walt Disney World. The drivers are Cast Members and the vans are equipped with car seats as well.
Minnie Vans are an amazing option as it is a safe, reliable ride and of course super cute as well.
More Food Options
If dining is a big part of your Walt Disney World vacation then we have good news for you- there are a lot of new and reopening options coming soon to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Over in EPCOT, we are looking forward to having Connections Cafe and Eatery open this spring near Creations Shop. This dining location is needed at the front of EPCOT and although we don’t know a lot about its offerings, we do know that Starbucks will be located here.
Looking for a fancy meal? You will soon be able to dine at Victoria and Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. This award-winning dining location is known for the Chef’s Table and outstanding dining experiences will be opening to Guests in 2022.
For those looking for a little entertainment along with their meal, Hoop Dee Doo Revue will be back at Disney’s Fort Wilderness starting June 23rd. This beloved show has been around since the Park opened and we are thrilled to have the show and food back.
Finally, over in Toy Story Land, Andy has been working hard on a new sit-down dining option for all his toys. Roundup Rodeo BBQ will open this year and is going to be a Toy Story-themed dining experience.
If you have been looking for some amazing dining options, 2022 has some excellent choices to choose from so don’t miss out.
Shows Returning
There are two shows that we have been told will be back in 2022. The nighttime show in Disney’s Hollywood Studio, Fantasmic, will be returning in 2022. This fantastic show combines music, fireworks, characters, and magic into an outstanding experience that shouldn’t be missed. We look forward to seeing what new touches and scenes have been added when it returns.
The beloved show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Finding Nemo: The Musical is also coming back in 2022 with an update. The show will now be called Finding Nemo: The Big, Blue World and focus on Dory and her adventures. We are happy that “ Go With the Flow” featuring Crush and friends will still be featured in the new show.
We love both of these shows so much and feel like they are a big part of the Disney magic. We can’t wait for them to once again return and bring joy to Walt Disney World Guests again.
There is so much more coming to Walt Disney World in 2022 that it is going to be a fantastic year to head down to visit the magic. From new dining locations to new shows and rides, the magic is alive and well and growing in Walt Disney World right now. Don’t miss out on the magic by getting your Walt Disney World vacation planned today.
