Let's Recap!

1. The Barnstormer

This child friendly rollercoaster ride features a fun queue, but it does go from outdoor to shade, so it may not be the most comfortable on a hot day. However, it is mostly shaded and features fun animatronics, theming, and more to keep you and young riders entertained as they wait.

2. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

While this queue is located outdoors, it is mostly shaded, which is always a plus! In addition to the shade, there are plenty of interactive areas for guests young and old to enjoy as they make their way through the line.

3. Haunted Mansion

This is another queue that is mostly outdoors, but it is pretty well shaded with tarps, so don’t worry about sunburn. It’s also a fairly interactive queue that features fun detail and excellent theming to keep you busy as you wait. Once you make it inside, everything is dark and cool, so the wait outside is well worth it in the end!

4. Jungle Cruise

Before your “punny” journey through the jungle, you’ll have to wait in a shaded and well cooled queue. This queue is typically fairly long and does wind back and forth, but it does stay relatively cool on hot days, especially with the help of plenty of fans, themed décor, and some puns to get you through it.

5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Here’s another outdoor, but shaded queue featuring fun, interactive elements that match the ride and Frontierland themes. With fans, shade, and some outdoor water features, this queue can remain pretty cool, and gets much cooler as you head closer and closer to the loading platform, which is located below the main area of the queue. Plus, a ride on this fun, fast-paced roller coaster will surely cool you down on a hot day!

6. Dumbo the Flying Elephant

This is one of the more unique queues in the Magic Kingdom because it features a large indoor play area for small children to enjoy while they wait to take flight with Dumbo! This cool, indoor queue and play area is a perfect escape on a hot day, especially if you are traveling with Dumbo fans and young children.

7. Peter Pan’s Flight

If you’re looking for a cool queue that transports you into the movie, look no further than Peter Pan’s Flight! The updated queue features a mostly indoor tour of the Darling home. This is one of the most popular rides in the park and the line is consistently long, so having a cool, indoor place to wait is much needed on a hot day.

8. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

This smooth, popular roller coaster in the Magic Kingdom does feature a long queue, but it isn’t an unpleasant one. While some of it is inside, you make your way into a shaded area, then indoors to a cave-like area with fun, interactive elements for kids and adults to enjoy while they wait their turn.

9. It’s a Small World

While the ride itself is located indoors, the queue is open air. However, it is entirely shaded, which is welcome on a hot, sunny day! This classic boat ride featuring the famous “It’s a Small World” song usually involves a decent amount of time waiting in line, which may not be so bad on hot days. Once you’re on the boat and on the water, things will cool down even more!

10. Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover

This line typically doesn’t involve much waiting, but both the ride and the queue are completely in the shade, giving you some relief on a hot summer day! Plus, this is a great ride to escape the heat and give your legs a rest, especially with all the walking that’s done in the Magic Kingdom.

11. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

We’ve reached our first indoor queue! If you’re looking to get out of the heat and the sun entirely, this is one stop you’ll want to make. Head into the Star Command Headquarters and make your way closer to the loading area. While in the queue, be sure to check out the Buzz Lightyear animatronic as you prepare for your mission.

12. Space Mountain

If you’re looking to be inside with air conditioning, head to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland! This is another popular ride, so lines tend to get long, which may not be so bad on a toasty day. Featuring some interactive games and fun space-themed elements, this ride queue is a great place to be to escape the Florida heat!

13. Pirates of the Caribbean

Another indoor ride and indoor queue is Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland! Check out the cool theming (and cool temperatures) as you make your way to your boat. This queue also gets fairly dark, which can help cool things down a bit more. Just watch your step and keep the line moving! This is an indoor boat ride, so being on the water will certainly keep you cool during your journey!

Even on the hottest days, Walt Disney World likes to make sure all guests are comfortable and cool while enjoying their time in the parks. If you’re looking for some relief, check out these rides, or some of the shows and other attractions throughout the park to keep cool while having fun!
