My Disney Experience is the official app of Walt Disney World.  This app has become essential to a successful Disney experience.  There is so much that Guests can do through this app that it can be overwhelming at times.  We are going to look at ten things that you can do on My Disney Experience that are important to your Disney vacation.

10. Park Hours

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you will find hours for the Disney Parks, Disney Springs, as well as the water parks when opened on the tv in the room.  If you aren’t staying at one of Disney’s Resorts, or you are out at a Disney Park, you can check Park hours on the app.

This can be helpful as you plan your day out.  You will easily know when the Parks are opening and closing making it easier to create the plan for the day.

9. Wait Times

One of the basic feature but extremely important features that Guests can find in the app is wait times.  Guests are able to see wait times for all four Disney Parks.  This is huge as it can prevent you from walking all the way from Space Mountain in Tomorrowland over to Splash Mountain in Frontierland only to find that is down at the moment.

Guests can also find show times, parade times, fireworks, and more in the app.  This is a great place to help plan as the day goes on.

8.  Mobile Order

For Guests that are wanting quick-service throughout their Walt Disney World vacation, they can save time in line by using mobile ordering.  This feature allows Guests to select a dining location at a Disney Park or Disney Resort, choose a return time, place their order and then be on their way.

Once their window is opened, Guests can then hit the “prepare my order” button and head to the dining location.  Cast Members will prepare their order fresh and Guests will be notified when it is ready to pick up.

This is an outstanding feature found on the My Disney Experience app and one we highly recommend Guests use to save time in line.

7.  Dining Availability, Mobile Check-in, Walk-Up Waitlist

Guests that are looking for a table-service experience, can use My Disney Experience in a variety of ways.  If looking for availability, they can do so through the app.  It will show what restaurants throughout the Walt Disney World Property have tables opened as well as what times are available.

Once Guests make a dining reservation, they can now use the mobile check-in app to check into their dining reservations.  This lets the restaurant know that you are ready to be seated and will notify you when your table is ready.

Finally, if Guests don’t see any availability on the app, they can choose to try the walk-up waitlist.  Disney has recently added this feature that Guests can use once in a Disney Park.  It will allow them to enter the waitlist for a lounge such as the Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or a restaurant that they are hoping to try.

These are all great features located in the app.

6.  Disney Genie

A new feature found within the My Disney Experience app is Disney Genie.  This feature is a planning tool that helps Guests navigate the Disney Parks.  Through this feature, Guests are able to choose their top rides, shows, and attractions and Disney Genie then provides suggestions for how they experience the day.

Guests are able to update and change their selections throughout the day giving Disney Genie the chance to provide the most relevant suggestions.

5.  Genie+

As part of Disney Genie, Guests can access Genie+.  This is the paid feature that costs $15 per person per day.  If Guests choose to purchase Genie+, it is through My Disney Experience that they will make their selections throughout the day.

Genie+ uses Disney Genie to provide Guests with suggestions on which selections to make throughout the day as well.

4.  Individual Lightning Lanes

Also found on the My Disney Experience app and as part of Disney Genie is Individual Lightning Lanes.  At each Disney Park, there are rides that aren’t included with the purchase of Genie+.  To access the lightning lanes for these rides, Guests purchase them al-a-cate through My Disney Experience.

3.  Virtual Queue

When Walt Disney World uses boarding groups and virtual queues for rides such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, it is through My Disney Experience that they are able to join.  These are done throughout the day currently at 7 am and 1 pm and Guests can find the option to join on the app.

2.  Bus Times

This feature does have some issues at times, but Guests are able to see bus times on the app when at their Walt Disney World Resort.  This can be extremely helpful when trying to head out the door in the morning.

These change constantly so don’t be surprised if you watch it adjust, but it does give you an overall idea of when buses should be coming.

Finally, Guests will be able to see their memory maker photos on the app.  If Guests have their photos taken by Disney photo pass photographers, these will show up on the app for Guests to preview.

Guests will also be able to see on-ride photos and videos.  These are really fun and always capture some hilarious moments.

My Disney Experience has so much to offer Guests that it can be overwhelming to navigate.  We hope that these ten things will help you focus as you learn the app before your Disney vacation.
