1. There's No Better Time to do Some Resort-Hopping
Who says you have to go into the parks to have a little holiday fun? In fact, you could spend a whole day taking a tour of various Disney-owned resorts and just take in all that Christmas-y ambiance without having to spend a dime. It's a great tradition that more and more families are taking up each year.
Highlights of any "holiday resort crawl" should include:
- Seeing the 1,000-square-foot gingerbread house constructed in the Grand Floridian lobby. In fact, the Grand Floridian is probably the best place to soak up some Christmas spirit, with its gorgeous decorations, enormous Christmas tree, and lovely live music.
- Taking a boat from Magic Kingdom over to Disney's Wilderness Lodge to enjoy more snuggly festivities, like sitting in a comfy chair near the crackling fireplace and just listening to the tranquil Christmas background music. You'll forget you're even in Florida.
- From there, take another boat over to the Fort Wilderness Campground and take a walk through the RV areas to get a load of all the lights and decorations the campers there have put up. It's a unique spin on driving through neighborhoods back home and seeing all the house lights.
So you see, if you want to celebrate the holidays right, head on down to Disney World. You and your family will cherish the yuletide memories made there forever, and maybe start a few new traditions along the way.
