Walt Disney World Resort's 5 Deluxe Resort Villas - What They Have To Offer

Bay Lake Tower

5. Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Staying at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the closest you can get to the Magic Kingdom in distance. In fact, it is the only Disney World Resort that you can walk directly to the park by. And while its name suggests something entirely new, this resort hotel is actually one of two original classics that opened on Oct. 1, 1971 in accordance with the grand opening of Walt Disney World.

Times may have changed, but Disney’s Contemporary has kept up with the modern flow, living up to its name with all the latest furnishings and upgraded amenities. And in part of a major resort-wide renovation that started in 2006 came the development of Bay Lake Tower, a new Disney Vacation Club building on premises. Bay Lake Tower officially opened in 2009, presenting a wide range of different accommodations to choose from, including studios that sleep up to five, one- and two-bedroom villas, and even two-story grand villas for up to 12. Each villa comes with it own fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette, a washer and dryer, television, DVD player, wireless Internet, and all the home away-from-home comforts.

While Bay Lake Tower is its own structure, a covered walkway connects into the Contemporary’s main building. So Bay Lake Tower guests can enjoy plenty of perks all around the overall resort. The Bay Cove Pool, with its beach-like zero-depth entry, is a favorite for many vacationers, and even boasts a 20-foot waterslide and whirlpool spa. There’s also a poolside bar and play area for children. The monorail system runs through the main building, making for easy transport to the Magic Kingdom Park (in addition to the walking path). It also takes guests to nearby resorts as well as the Transportation and Ticket Center for the Epcot switch off. You’ll also find a wide range of unique dining possibilities, including character dining at Chef Mickey’s and the renowned California Grill, with its rooftop dining and stellar views. Bay Lake Tower guests may also enjoy exclusive entry to the Top of the World Lounge, which also boasts spectacular aerial views. Additionally, you’ll find a Community Hall activity center, shopping, and countless other delights.
