Universal Just Made a Massive Change for Passholders, Are You Affected?

Big changes are underway for Universal Orlando Annual Passholders (UOAPs), as Universal officially announced the launch of new Instagram and Facebook pages designed specifically for their passholder community. In doing so, the resort also revealed that it will be shutting down its long-standing UOAP Facebook Group—a popular spot where thousands of fans once gathered to share updates, ask questions, and geek out over all things Universal.

Why the Switch?

According to Universal, the shift is due to “platform policy changes” affecting Facebook Groups. While the exact policy changes haven’t been disclosed, Universal has opted to move all official communications and passholder content to standard social media pages instead.

In a message posted in the UOAP Facebook Group, Universal stated:

“HEY, PASSHOLDER FAMILY

We have an update on the UOAP Facebook Group.
Due to platform policy changes for Groups, we’re launching a new Facebook page to make sure our Passholders continue to get timely and relevant information about our universe. We’re also launching a brand-new Instagram page.

These new Passholder pages are where you’ll receive important updates and the fun content you’ve come to expect. Our current Facebook Group will be deactivated in the near future.

Join us on our new pages to make sure you’re keeping up with the latest sneak peeks, giveaways, exclusive UOAP offers, and more.

Thank you, Passholder family, for making it a fun, welcoming space for everyone. See you there!”

Where to Go Now

Passholders looking to stay informed should follow the new official social media accounts:

The first post on both platforms features a sleek promotional video teasing what’s to come: insider news, exclusive perks, UOAP merch previews, special giveaways, and information about upcoming events. The messaging is clear—these pages are now the primary way for Universal to communicate with its passholder audience.

What’s Still Available for UOAPs?

Universal is reassuring guests that all the magic of the UOAP program is still going strong. If anything, the new pages are designed to enhance how passholders engage with the brand. In addition to the new social media platforms, guests can still access full passholder perks and benefits via the official Universal Orlando website’s UOAP section.

Here are some of the benefits currently available:

  • Exclusive entry to Universal Islands of Adventure from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily

  • 15% discount for Seasonal Passholders on multi-day tickets (up from the previous 10%)

  • Free seasonal goodies like collectible buttons and magnets

  • A dedicated UOAP Lounge in Toon Lagoon at Islands of Adventure

  • Exclusive themed merchandise throughout the year

  • Free and discounted parking options, depending on pass tier

  • Early park entry and more for upper-tier passholders

UOAP pass types include the Seasonal Pass, Power Pass, Preferred Pass, and Premier Pass, each offering different benefits to cater to varying levels of fandom and frequency of visits.

A Digital Era for Universal Passholders

Although the Facebook Group’s closure may come as a surprise to longtime members who enjoyed the open group discussion format, Universal seems confident the new Facebook and Instagram pages will be just as effective—if not more so—in delivering timely and engaging content. The centralized nature of social pages could help streamline communication and eliminate confusion about where official updates originate.

Universal has not shared a specific date for when the Facebook Group will officially shut down, but the message emphasized that it would be happening in the “near future,” so followers are encouraged to make the switch soon.

Ready to Join the New UOAP Experience?

Whether you’re a die-hard Premier Passholder or someone who just snagged their first Seasonal Pass, these new pages are meant to bring together the entire Universal Orlando Annual Passholder family in one polished digital space.
