Celebrities Take Action: Petition Launched to Save Famous Disney World Attraction

An iconic singer has joined the crowd of Walt Disney World Resort fans begging for the Central Florida Disney park to save The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

The Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction is the only remaining version in the United States–Disneyland Resort rethemed its Tower of Terror to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! as part of the Avengers Campus construction at Disney California Adventure Park.

Walt Disney World Resort has removed third-party properties from Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the last few years, transforming the Turner Classic Movies-sponsored Great Move Ride into Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This and the Disneyland Resort Tower of Terror retheme led many Central Florida Disney Parks fans to believe that The Twilight Zone theme would soon disappear.

Iconic singer Mariah Carey is joining the collective of nostalgic Hollywood Tower Hotel fans. She recently spoke about the Walt Disney World Resort ride during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang. The podcast’s network, @bigmoneyplayers, shared this clip on TikTok:

“You and Ariana Grande have the same feeling about Tower of Terror,” Yang began. “She has written an entire notes app statement, a petition, basically, to Disney…She is like, ‘If you do anything to Tower of Terror in Orlando…'”

“There will be a revolt,” Rogers added.

“Because they did it in [Los Angeles],” Carey replied. “[Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!] is not bad, but it’s not the Tower of Terror.”

She mimicked the “It’s raining, it’s pouring” tune sung by the little girl on the Walt Disney World Resort ride.

Carey, not a horror movie fan, said a “spooky” theme park attraction was different.

“It’s because it’s a ride,” she explained. “You go up and down on it.”

Disney Parks fans loved that Carey was on their side.

“I love that Mariah Carey has an opinion on tower of tower,” said @irritated.homosexual.

Others confirmed Carey’s affection for The Hollywood Tower Hotel.

“The last time I went on tower of terror before it closed I ran into Mariah and my friends didn’t believe me until she posted later she was there,” said @gavinckss99.

“When I worked there she would demand that they shut down the entire ride for her,” @phantomboats replied.
