3. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Said to be Walt’s favorite attraction, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is steeped in history. Originally created for the 1964 World’s Fair in New York, the attraction opened as “Progressland” and was one of the Fair’s most popular pavilions. The “Carousel of Progress” was moved to Disneyland in California in 1967, and then finally to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 1975. As such, it is one of the few attractions at the Disney World Resort to have been directly touched by Walt. While younger guests may find it cheesy at best, and perhaps a little boring at worst, older guests usually enjoy the Disney tradition and history behind the ride as well as the humorous look at the “future” that the attraction offers.
