The Laughing Place Is Coming Back Even Wetter This Summer to Tokyo Disney Resort

Get Ready for New Shows and Experiences

You’re strolling through Tokyo Disneyland on a sunny summer day when—BAM!—a sudden blast of water erupts from the sidewalk. You’re laughing, soaked, and caught completely off guard. And no, this isn’t an accident or a rogue rainstorm. It’s exactly what Disney planned.

This summer, Tokyo Disney is turning the traditional theme park experience into an all-out water-soaked celebration. But what exactly is behind this dramatic seasonal shift, and how might it shape future guest experiences?

Tokyo Disneyland: Meet the New Face of Splash Mountain: “Get Soaked MAX Plus”

Tokyo Disney is no stranger to going big with its seasonal overlays, but this summer’s offering might be its most outrageous yet. Introducing “Get Soaked MAX Plus”—an enhanced version of last year’s popular “Get Soaked MAX” edition of Splash Mountain.

The new overlay features even more intense water effects, including surprise sprays, unpredictable splashes, and higher-volume water bursts aimed at both riders and innocent bystanders. It’s the kind of ride experience where even standing nearby can leave you dripping.

For those who love a souvenir, a limited-edition on-ride photo will capture each soaked expression—perfect for sharing the madness on social media.

But Splash Mountain is just the start of this story.

“Get Soaked” Fever Takes Over Both Parks

The Summer Cool-Off event, which runs July 2 through September 15, 2025, sees both Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea transformed into a high-energy, high-humidity playground. The parks are bursting with creative water features and interactive zones designed to drench, surprise, and delight Guests at every turn.

Toontown goes full splash mode with water effects popping off throughout the land. The Trolley Barn now mists Guests with gentle sprays, while the Toontown Fire Department and Fireworks Factory erupt with cartoon-inspired water streams. It’s whimsical, unpredictable, and irresistibly refreshing.

Just as you enter Adventureland, an all-new “Get Soaked” Zone catches Guests by surprise. Disguised nozzles shoot water unexpectedly from spouts hidden in the landscape—keeping even the most prepared visitors on their toes.

High-Energy Shows and Attractions Get the Water Treatment

The fan-favorite Baymax’s Mission: Cool Down parade returns, this time featuring a brand-new summer anthem by Mrs. GREEN APPLE. Expect six daily showings of the parade with water sprays synced to music, along with an appearance of the new theme song in The Happy Ride with Baymax ride rotation.

Over in Tokyo DisneySea, the popular trackless ride Aquatopia gets its own limited-time summer overlay. This special “Get Soaked” version cranks up the water features, delivering unexpected splashes and waves to make sure riders leave wetter than ever.

At Mediterranean Harbor, Guests will witness the debut of the “Get Soaked” Harbor Splash Show, an aquatic spectacle where jets of water explode sky-high. The show runs several times daily into the late afternoon and is set to high-energy music, turning a peaceful waterfront into a full-on splash zone.

More Than Just Summer Fun—It’s Disney Reinventing the Park Experience

One of the more understated—but effective—additions is in Mysterious Island, where the Caldera Corridor will feature new cooling mist zones, offering brief but blissful breaks from the heat without the full soak.

At first glance, this may seem like a playful event to beat the heat. But beneath the fun lies a deeper strategy: immersive engagement. Tokyo Disney is creating a park-wide experience that blurs the lines between attraction and atmosphere, encouraging Guests to interact with their environment and with each other in ways most theme parks only dream of.

Rather than funneling everyone into queues and shows, this event brings the experience to the pathways, the sidelines, and the in-between spaces—turning every inch of the resort into a stage for fun. It’s spontaneous. It’s community-driven. And it’s Disney storytelling in its most kinetic form.

Tokyo Disneyland: Could This Be the Future of Seasonal Theme Park Events?

With climate change making summers hotter across the globe, Tokyo Disney’s wet-and-wild solution could become a blueprint for other parks worldwide. From Orlando to Anaheim, seasonal water overlays may be the next big evolution in summer entertainment.

One thing’s certain: If you’re heading to Tokyo Disney this summer, forget the poncho. Just lean in—and get soaked.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
