‘Star Wars’ Brings Back Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett After Years of Silence
When The Book of Boba Fett (2021) premiered on Disney+, it was supposed to be the next major chapter for one of Star Wars’ most beloved characters.
Instead, the series received mixed reactions from fans and critics, with many taking issue with its portrayal of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and its decision to devote significant screen time to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) from The Mandalorian(2019). Since then, the former bounty hunter has been mostly absent from the franchise. Now, however, Boba Fett is returning.

Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett Returns to Star Wars
Earlier this month, Marvel Comics announced The Book of Boba Fett, a seven-part comic-book adaptation of the Disney+ series. Each issue will adapt one episode of the show, meaning the project serves as a retelling rather than a sequel.
The artwork prominently features the likenesses of Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen (who plays Fennec Shand), confirming that the comic remains closely tied to the live-action series.
The first issue is scheduled for release on September 9, 2026.

The announcement marks another chapter in the long history of Boba Fett, a character who became a fan favorite despite only briefly appearing in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983).
For decades, Fett remained one of the franchise’s most recognizable figures through novels, comics, games, and merchandise, particularly during the Star Wars Legends era.
His modern resurgence began in The Mandalorian Season 2 (2020), which brought him back from his apparent death in the sarlacc pit.

That return also marked another major moment for Temuera Morrison, who first entered the franchise as Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002).
Beyond playing Jango, Morrison has portrayed countless clone characters across live-action films and television due to their shared genetic origin.
Whether he will ever return in live action remains unknown. Earlier this year, Morrison admitted he had not been approached about future appearances.
For now, though, Boba Fett’s story is returning—just not in the way many fans expected.
