‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Gets Two Different Theatrical Cuts

Few superhero franchises have remained as consistently successful on the big screen as Spider-Man.

From Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy through Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man films and the animated Spider-Verse entries, the character has remained one of cinema’s most reliable box office draws.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland has carried that legacy forward since first appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), later returning in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Now, Holland returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), the fourth installment in his solo Spidey series and one that will continue Peter Parker’s story following the events of No Way Home. Watch the trailer for the upcoming film below:

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Justin Kuritzkes, Spider-Man: Brand New Day finds Peter adjusting to life after Doctor Strange’s spell erased him from the memories of the people he loves most.

Marvel describes the hero as “fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him.” But while audiences around the world will be watching the same story unfold, one territory will be getting an extra addition.

The announcement effectively means there will be two theatrical versions of the film available globally — the standard international release and the Japanese version featuring the additional song.

Brand New Day releases in theaters in both the United States and Japan on July 31, 2026.

The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role.
