runDisney’s New 2027 Wine & Dine Graphic Has Disney Fans Asking Some Questions
The 2026 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend just ended; runners are still icing their legs, and runDisney is already like, here’s next year! The 2027 themes are officially out, and we have thoughts.
The good news? Disney is sticking with the World Showcase theme, and the lineup is super fun. The confusing news? Some of these characters are standing in front of pavilions that don’t exactly make sense. Let’s get into it.
Meet the 2027 Lineup
Disney says the 2027 weekend is all about World Showcase tastes and tales. The artwork, posted on the runDisney website, shows each character in front of an EPCOT pavilion, wearing a gold distance badge and surrounded of floating snacks. Because, of course, there are snacks. It’s Wine & Dine.
Abu takes the 5K. Aladdin’s little monkey sidekick is flexing his muscles with a very smug grin, next to a kebab skewer and a tomato slice. Behind him? The Norway Pavilion. Weird right?
Pinocchio hosts the 10K. He’s mid-run in his blue bow tie, surrounded by tomatoes and what looks like mozzarella with basil. Very Italian snack vibes. But he’s standing in front of a tower from the Morocco Pavilion. Hmm.
Elsa leads the half marathon. She’s in a pale blue and white outfit with her braid over her shoulder, and two pastries are floating nearby, one with a swirl of cream on top. And behind her is a tower that looks like the Italy Pavilion’s campanile. Elsa. In Italy.
Sam Eagle takes the 19.3 miles. The Muppets’ most serious bird is sprinting with a furrowed brow in front of The American Adventure, with a cheeseburger and a hot dog nearby. Honestly, this is the only pairing that makes perfect sense, and we love it.
Since 19.3 miles is the combined distance of the 10K and half marathon, Sam Eagle looks like he’s the face of the 2027 challenge, though runDisney hasn’t officially confirmed that.
So, Did Disney Mix These Up?
Look, we have to say it. Pinocchio is literally from Italy, and he’s in Morocco. Elsa is from a world heavily inspired by Norway, and she’s in Italy. And Abu, who’s from Agrabah, is hanging out in Norway.
It’s like someone shuffled the cards.
Now, to be fair, this could totally be on purpose. The theme is World Showcase tastes and tales, not one character per country, so maybe Disney wanted to mix things up. But after this year’s lineup matched so neatly, it definitely feels a little off. Disney hasn’t said anything about it either way.
This Year Matched Perfectly
For comparison, the 2026 weekend had the Aristocats on the 5K, the Three Caballeros on the 10K, Mary Poppins on the half marathon, and Grumpy on the Two Course Challenge.
The 5K was France-themed, featuring The Aristocats, and the 10K was Mexico-themed, featuring The Three Caballeros. Pretty much perfect matches.
And here’s the best part. Runners noticed that the music during the 5K was all in French, and during the 10K it was all in Spanish. That’s such a cool detail, and it made each race feel like you were actually running through that country.
So now we’re wondering, will they do it again in 2027? Norwegian music during the 5K? Moroccan music for the 10K? Something Italian for Elsa? Fingers crossed, because that was one of the best parts of this year.
No Dates or Prices Yet
runDisney hasn’t shared 2027 dates, prices, registration info, or medal designs yet. For reference, this year’s weekend ran October 23 through 25, and the prices with fees were $125 for the 5K, $175 for the 10K, $269 for the half marathon, and $449 for the Two Course Challenge.
Every single race sold out well of advance. Registration for 2026 opened in February, so if 2027 follows the same pattern, you’ll want to be ready early.
Ready to Run?
Mixed-up pavilions or not, Abu flexing, Pinocchio running, Elsa with pastries, and Sam Eagle sprinting past a hot dog is a pretty great lineup. We’re just hoping the themed music comes back.
So which race are you signing up for?
