Return to Oz: “Wicked for Good” Trailer Unveils Big Surprises

The latest trailer for Wicked for Good—the eagerly awaited follow-up to last year’s Wicked: Part One (2024)—has finally arrived, and it’s packed with everything fans have been dreaming about. Picking up from Act 2 of the Broadway phenomenon, this sequel promises even more magic, drama, and a special cameo by Dorothy Gale herself.
One of the biggest highlights? Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) will debut brand-new songs written specifically for the film by Stephen Schwartz, the original composer of Wicked. These fresh tunes add new layers to their characters, while timeless favorites like “No Good Deed” and “I’m Not That Girl (Reprise)” continue to deliver all the emotional impact fans expect.
Director Jon M. Chu aims to use the cinematic format to deepen the themes of friendship, identity, and destiny that have made Wicked a beloved story for nearly two decades. These new compositions don’t just serve as extras—they actively expand the characters’ journeys beyond what the stage allowed.
Diving Deep into Act 2’s Emotional Rollercoaster
Act 2 turns up the heat in Wicked, and the trailer gives a tantalizing glimpse into this intense second act. We see Elphaba grow increasingly isolated, Glinda rise to power, and witness the fallout from their choices. Fans will also spot Dorothy Gale, making her debut alongside the characters from the original Wizard of Oz. How Dorothy’s arrival affects the witches remains a secret, but it’s sure to shake things up.

The visuals in Wicked for Good look even more breathtaking than before. The film showcases the glittering Emerald City and the shadowy halls of Elphaba’s fortress, creating a vivid atmosphere. The trailer also teases some high-energy action scenes—maybe even a flying monkey or two.
Could This Sequel Finally Bring Home an Oscar?
Last year’s Wicked: Part One (2024) smashed box office records and won over fans, but it had mixed results at the Oscars. The film earned nominations for Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Sound, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling. However, it only won two awards: Best Costume Design (Paul Tazewell) and Best Production Design (Lee Sandeles and Nathan Crowley).

Wicked for Good looks ready to change that. With richer emotional depth, complex storytelling, and new original songs, many hope it will grab major awards this season. Could Elphaba’s fresh anthem win Best Original Song? Might Ariana Grande finally earn an Oscar for her portrayal of Glinda? Only time will tell.
Since its Broadway debut in 2003, Wicked has captivated audiences worldwide. With Wicked for Good hitting theaters on November 21, 2025, fans can prepare for a magical journey filled with laughter, tears, and unforgettable music. Oz is calling—are you ready to answer?
