How One Family Got Left Alone on a Disney World Ride

A recent experience shared by a couple on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom Park is turning heads among Disney Parks fans. What made their story unusual? They were the only riders in their vehicle when the attraction suddenly stopped, leaving them completely alone, suspended in a tunnel.
Despite undergoing several updates, the PeopleMover has been a slow-paced, breezy tour of Tomorrowland since it first opened in 1975. Inspired by Disneyland Park’s original PeopleMover (which closed in 1995), it remains a classic, calming ride beloved by Walt Disney World Resort guests of all ages. Although its Disneyland Resort counterpart’s track still exists, reopening the attraction under modern building code would take significant work. Today, the Magic Kingdom is the only Disney park with an operating PeopleMover.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover isn’t the most adrenaline-pumping ride in Magic Kingdom Park, but its technology is complex and used heavily by thousands of guests daily. Like any ride, it can stop unexpectedly, sometimes requiring evacuations.
Last Sunday, TikTok user @samsadventurouslife gave followers a glimpse into her and her partner’s unique experience on the attraction. Their PeopleMover vehicle abruptly ceased moving — and to add to the tension, they were alone. “Not me like, please don’t leave us here Disney,” she captioned the video.

Some Disney Parks fans called it a dream scenario.
“Omg yes! I would be stepping out and start exploring,” @beautiful.life200112 wrote.

“It was so tempting!” the TikToker responded, calling the breakdown “eerie at first but then enjoyable.”
It’s still unclear if the ride resumed or if Disney cast members evacuated the couple. Walt Disney World Resort did not publicly comment on this particular breakdown, but the PeopleMover has since reopened and returned to its usual smooth operation.
