This older style of attraction can be found at every domestic Disney Park.

A dark ride is an indoor, slow-moving ride that takes guests through multiple scenes. It’s not called “dark” because it’s necessarily scary (although it can be.) But the ride takes you into a dark building, and certain areas are specifically lit up.

Some of the most iconic dark rides at Walt Disney World Resort include Spaceship Earth (EPCOT), Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Disney’s Hollywood Studios), Peter Pan’s Flight (Magic Kingdom Park), and the Na’vi River Journey (Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

Meanwhile, Disneyland Resort offers unique ones as well, such as Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and, Alice in Wonderland at Disneyland Park, and Monster’s, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! at California Adventure Park.

A Wish-Themed Attraction?

During a recent interview with Cinema Blend, actress Angelique Cabral, who voiced Queen Amaya in Wish, discussed the concept of a dark ride at Disneyland Park that would be themed to the movie.

She is a big fan of the original Disneyland Park. She said, “…we drove to Disneyland and I remember the first time I went was for New Year’s Eve and it was so special. So to me, it’s full circle because I grew up in Disney has always been special and it’s always been a place for me and my mom especially. There’s magic there, and I take my kids at least two or three times a year. I’m obsessed with it.”

The Disney actress then talked about a potential Wish-themed ride: “To me, it’s like going to be like a Peter Pan or Snow White or Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. One of those where you hop in the star.”

It’s worth noting that the Walt Disney Company has not announced any plans to incorporate a Wish-themed ride at any Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort theme park.

The movie itself was not a huge blockbuster, and the likelihood of a new attraction based on the film is low. But you never know. Encanto is a movie that, too, had less than ideal box office success, yet its popularity on streaming has earned it a unique venue on the Disney Treasure cruise ship.

Cabral most likely knows that Wish may never reach the status of Peter Pan (1953) or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). But when it comes to the Walt Disney Company and Disney Parks, never say never.
