Disney World Officially Gives the Muppets a New Theme Park Home

Walt Disney World Resort is about to give the Muppets a fresh and exciting new home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Central Florida Disney park dropped shared some new information about the upcoming attraction.
Last fall, Walt Disney World Resort revealed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be rethemed to feature the Muppets. Fans of Jim Henson’s creations can look forward to seeing their favorite characters in an all-new setting, with the new Muppets Mayhem version of the ride set to debut in 2026.

This update came alongside the announcement that Muppet*Vision 3D and the surrounding Muppets Courtyard area would close to make way for a Monsters, Inc. (2001)-themed land. To keep the Muppets alive in the park, Disney decided to bring them to Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. The attraction will continue to operate with its Aerosmith theme through the end of 2025.

Although Walt Disney World Resort has not yet revealed the exact closing date for the current Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster theme or the official reopening date for its Muppets retheme, it recently shared some exciting details about what to expect. On June 18, Disney shared that the upcoming Muppets-themed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be a “fast-paced, music-filled adventure with rock tune remixes, backstage chaos and plenty of laughs.” From @DrewDisneyDude on X (formerly known as Twitter):
Walt Disney World says Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will be a “fast-paced, music-filled adventure with rock tune remixes, backstage chaos and plenty of laughs” when the attraction opens in 2026 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced the specific date for the attraction’s grand reopening, or the premiere of the Monsters, Inc. land that’s replacing Muppets Courtyard and Muppet*Vision 3D. More information is expected to come later this year as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith’s closing date gets closer.

What about us “ older” folks that can’t do fast paced roller coasters, I’ve got vertigo so now I’ll never get to see my muppets again. Find a new home for Muppets 3D
Hopefully they slow it down for the generation yhat actually knows who the muppets are. There’s no reason for the Muppet ride to be THAT fast.
THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am now gonna hate the muppets, sorry Animal, you was cool but the frog screwed you.
I LOVE the Muppets and hope Disney will put the 3D show elsewhere! As for the Roller Coaster swap, I agree with the other comments about speed. Needs to be re-worked for a Muppets theme, or left alone, as is the way it is right now. Tough decision~
