Disney World Closes Monorail Effectively Immediately, Guests Not Notified
On Tuesday, June 10, the Walt Disney World Monorail experienced a technical issue that shut down much of the system. Would-be riders were left stranded at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom Park until alternate transportation arrived.
Walt Disney loved the concept of the Monorail as the future of transportation across the United States. That idea never took off, but the Disney parks paid tribute to Walt’s dreams with Monorail systems at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and Tokyo Disney Resort.

Walt Disney World Resort’s Monorail serves three distinct lines: the Express Monorail between The Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and Magic Kingdom Park; the Disney Resort Monorail that stops at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Magic Kingdom Park, and the TTC; and the EPCOT line, which takes guests between the TTC and EPCOT. Riders on either Magic Kingdom Monorail line must transfer at the TTC to travel to EPCOT.
On Tuesday, June 10, an unspecified technical or weather issue abruptly halted Monorail service at Walt Disney World Resort. Redditor u/GalaxyC7 asked fellow Disney Parks fans whether they should use the futuristic train system to travel from Disney’s Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom Park after seeing that the EPCOT line was down.

“I saw the Monorail from EPCOT to MK was down, are they all down today or is it just the one?” the Disney Park guest asked. “We went and parked at Comtempo, hoping to not have to walk over to MK but if we do no big deal.”
It’s about a ten-minute walk from Disney’s Contemporary Resort to Magic Kingdom Park, but the guest hoped to avoid the journey in the Central Florida summer heat.

“This heat might make it more trouble than it’s worth,” they added.
At least part of the Monorail system was open at the time of this article’s publication. X (formerly Twitter) user @akademanda shared a video of Monorail Coral leaking during a heavy rainstorm on Tuesday afternoon:
Monorail Coral is leaking in this crazy storm.

Walt Disney World Resort didn’t issue a public statement about the alleged Monorail issues on Tuesday.

Misleading article as usual
Exactly!
What’s the point of this “article”?
Is the monorail still closed? Will it be out of service until repaired? Was it even a breakdown or a weather issue?
This article says nothing.
Totally agree and also misleading as if Disney did this intentionally. Not the first time.
The monorail and skyliner were shut down due to lightening. Why not print the truth instead of assumptions
AS USUAL!!!! Misleading article. Going for the ole attention getter huh? I find this type of reporting disgusting. Over and over again Disney reports in this manner. Instead of reporting the system is down due to a technically stranding some guests you start out making it sound like Disney is the bad guy. Poorly written article.
see above.
Ya i was there, heavy lightning all over, the dumbass that wrote this story should lead off with lightning shuts down monorail, you don’t say anything about the boats being shut either did ya.
No body was stranded, they weren’t smart enough to walk to the buses
The drama queen at it again. You are horrible with your lies and false reporting. You are not cute or funny. Grow up. But I’m sure as you read these responses you are finding it funny.
Please remove this immature loser from your writing staff.
