Marvel Finally Recasts Wolverine, Official Trailer and Release Date Revealed
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for one of its biggest crossovers yet with Avengers: Doomsday (2026). Directed by the Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame), the film will bring together a huge ensemble of returning MCU heroes and legacy X-Men actors.

While fans have been eagerly anticipating the official X-Men introduction into the MCU, one name stands out for its absence: Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Jackman has been synonymous with the iconic character since 2000, first appearing in X-Men (2000) and later in X-2(2003), X-Men 3: The Last Stand (2006), and multiple solo films including X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), The Wolverine (2013), and Logan (2017).
Most recently, he reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Though technically part of the MCU, it acts as more of a parody of the shared universe. As such, the X-Men’s proper introduction into the MCU is yet to happen.

Avengers: Doomsday Cast and Returning X-Men
Avengers: Doomsday features a sprawling cast, including Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), and Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom.
Returning X-Men actors include Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), James Marsden (Cyclops), and even Channing Tatum (Gambit) from Deadpool & Wolverine.
But despite the high-profile ensemble, Jackman hasn’t been confirmed, leaving fans to speculate about Wolverine’s cinematic future.

Wolverine’s Next Chapter
While Jackman may not appear in Doomsday, Wolverine is set to return in Marvel’s Wolverine, a PlayStation 5-exclusive game from Insomniac Games.
The official trailer for the game was shared last year:
Australian actor Liam McIntyre takes over as the voice of Logan in a standalone story that explores his past and his brutal, unrelenting fight against a new criminal threat.
“As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes, unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination, to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be,” the official synopsis on Marvel.com reads.
The game’s official release date has now been confirmed as September 15, 2026. In a post shared across social media, Insomniac wrote “Let’s cut to the chase: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026″ and shared a short teaser of the game:

With Doomsday poised to merge the MCU and X-Men timelines and Insomniac providing a new take on Logan, Marvel is clearly preparing a long-term transition for Wolverine.
Jackman’s era may be over on the screen, but his legacy sets the foundation for the next generation of Logan stories.

There is absolutely no reason to think that a video game has any bearing whatsoever on the plans of a Hollywood studio. The announcement of the voice of Wolverine in a video game tells us nothing at all about Marvel’s plans for the characters in film.
If you were an actual journalist, you’d know that.

If Hugh Jackman is not Wolverine I will not watch it.
Hugh Jackman is the only Wolverine I would watch and Chris Evans is the only Cap ! One more thing : Taking out Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man from Marvel movies is one huge reason for Marvel fall from grace ! If you want to see Marvel flourish again then return both original actors for Iron Man and Cap America ! And fgs make already another Iron Man movie and add Cap to it. Box office will explode ! Again, no Wolverine without Jackman !
