Magic Kingdom Changes Winnie the Pooh Meet-and-Greet Starting November 8, New Home Announced

Okay, Magic Kingdom regulars, this one’s for you. You know how you can basically walk to The Thotful Spot with your eyes closed? Yeah, don’t do that on Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights. Winnie the Pooh won’t be there.

Disney just announced that Pooh and his friends are moving to a new meet-and-greet spot during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. So say goodbye to The Thotful Spot and hello to Storybook Circus. At least for the holidays.

The Dates You Need to Know

Pooh and friends will be meeting guests at Storybook Circus during every Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party night, from opening night on November 8 all the way through the last party on December 22.

So if you’ve got a party ticket, that’s where you’ll find him.

Daytime Winnie the Pooh Isn’t Going Anywhere

Here’s the twist. During regular park hours, Pooh is still hanging out at his usual spot. Disney still lists daytime meet times at The Thotful Spot, so this change seems to be just for party nights.

Basically, it’s two different spots depending on what time it is. Daytime? The Thotful Spot. Party time? Storybook Circus. Got it? Good.

Why Repeat Guests Might Get Confused

Here’s the thing. A lot of longtime fans are on total autopilot at Magic Kingdom. You want Pooh, you head to The Thotful Spot. Easy.

But on party nights, if you go there out of habit, you’re going to walk up and find… no Pooh. And with how crowded these parties get, that’s a lot of wasted walking. So set a reminder or something.

Where Exactly in Storybook Circus?

That’s the mystery. Disney hasn’t said exactly where in Storybook Circus Pooh will be or which of his friends are joining him.

Some fans are guessing it could be inside Pete’s Silly Sideshow, which honestly makes sense. But nothing’s confirmed, so check the My Disney Experience app on party night for the exact spot.

Santa’s Going to Be His Neighbor

Here’s a fun bonus. During the party, Storybook Circus turns into Santa’s Christmas Carnival, and Santa himself meets guests there near Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Barnstormer.

So Pooh and Santa are basically going to be neighbors. That means two of the biggest party meet-and-greets will be right next to each other. Efficient? Yes. Crowded? Also probably yes.

A Little Winnie the Pooh History

The Thotful Spot sits right next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Fantasyland. Pooh and Tigger usually meet guests there during the day.

The meet-and-greet came back to Magic Kingdom in 2022 after being gone for more than two years. And ever since then, the line has been long, especially on event nights.

So Why Move Him?

Okay, this part actually makes a lot of sense. The Thotful Spot is right on a busy Fantasyland walkway, across from Mad Tea Party. There’s not a lot of room for the line, so when it gets long, it kind of takes over the walkway.

And on party nights, Mad Tea Party gets a holiday makeover and draws its own crowd. So you’ve got two big lines right next to each other. Not ideal.

Storybook Circus has way more room, and it’s off the main path, so Disney can let the line stretch out without blocking everyone.

These Parties Are Packed

This year’s parties are super popular. As of late October, Disney said 13 of the 25 party nights had sold out, including opening night and every single party during Thanksgiving week. So yeah, things are going to be busy. Moving Pooh to a roomier spot is honestly a smart move.

Quick Tips

Skip The Thotful Spot on party nights. Check the app for the exact location and times. Try to see Santa and Pooh back to back since they’re close by. And get there early, because those lines are going to grow fast.

Pooh’s Holiday Getaway

Look, change is hard, especially when you know Magic Kingdom like the back of your hand. But this move could actually make meeting Pooh a lot less stressful on busy party nights.

Just remember: daytime at The Thotful Spot, party nights at Storybook Circus.

Are you planning to meet Pooh at the party this year?
