Magic Kingdom Attractions To Visit When Wait Times Get High

Most of us don’t want to wait in long lines during our Walt Disney World vacations. Even though there are tips for avoiding long lines (we have some great ones at How to Disney), there are times during every trip when you come across long waits in the Disney Parks.

When this happens during your Walt Disney World vacation, you don’t have to wait in these long lines. There is so much that you can still enjoy throughout the Parks. We want to share some great experiences that can bring just as much magic to a trip.

As most of us visit Magic Kingdom during our trip, we will share our ideas on attractions and experiences throughout this iconic Park that you see when wait times get too high.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress- Tomorrowland

Take a ride through four decades and see how our technology has changed. This unique ride has the audience rotate to different scenes where they follow the family through four generations of progress.

As this is a constantly moving show, wait times never get that high. It is a great way to take some time out of the heat and crowds during the middle of the day.  A large seating area gives room for many Guests, making it a perfect option for those busier times.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room- Adventureland

One of the first audio-animatronics introduced to Disney Park came from Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room in 1963 at Disneyland Park.  Now, Guests hanging out in the Magic Kingdom Park can also enjoy this entertaining show.

Exotic birds, tiki statues, and flowers all work together to bring a South Sea musical to life in the middle of Magic Kingdom. Guests can sit back and relax as they enjoy the show of over 225 audio-animatronics performing various songs.

As a large theatre in the round, Guests don’t usually have to wait long before enjoying this show.  Grab Dole Whip and be ready for a great time.

Philharmagic

Mickey’s PhilharMagic- Fantasyland

We love this 12-minute 3D show that brings our favorite Disney shows to life. The wait for this great experience is usually steady at 15-minutes as Guests typically just have to wait for the next show to start.

Guests will be able to enjoy favorite songs such as “Be Our Guest”, “Part of Your World”, “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King”, “You Can Fly”, and many more, including a new feature from Coco.  A combination of great music and special effects make this a fantastic option when wanting to avoid long lines but still experience the magic of the Park.

Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents- Liberty Square

Take some time to learn and celebrate the history of the USA while on vacation by visiting The Hall of Presidents.  This amazing theater has three massive digital projection screens, and the show includes 45 audio-animatronics featuring all presidents, from George Washington to Joe Biden.

This large theatre seats many Guests, making it easy to find a spot throughout the day to enjoy the show. Guests can learn about the formation of the Constitution and hear Abraham Lincoln give his Gettysburg address.

The show is moving, and it might surprise Guests that it finds a home in Magic Kingdom.  It is an amazing show and one that, at 25 minutes long, helps Guests enjoy some air conditioning while avoiding long lines.

Under the Sea- Journey of The Little Mermaid- Fantasyland

Travel underwater to enjoy the story of our favorite mermaid Ariel and how she found her happily ever after with Prince Eric.  Guests can climb into their clam shells and then head down under, where they will find all their favorite moments from the movie.

See Ariel’s gadgets, hear Sebastian and friends sing, and watch out for Ursual along the way.  For how good this ride is, we are always surprised that the wait time doesn’t typically get higher than 30-minutes on most days.  We love relaxing and hanging out with Ariel and friends throughout the day.

Liberty Square Riverboat- Liberty Square

If you want a way to escape the crowds without leaving the Magic Kingdom, consider riding the Liberty Square Riverboat.  The Liberty Belle takes Guests on a 17-minute trip past Tom Sawyer Island and the American frontier.

With four decks for viewing, there is a lot of room for Guests to spread out.  Keep in mind that there aren’t a lot of seats on board, but you are sure to find a spot to watch the sights from.

Country Bear Jamboree- Frontierland

Get ready for a wild time as you enter Grizzly Hall.  Guests will enjoy a 16-minute country-western musical featuring a cast of singing bears. Guests will be entertained throughout the show with lots of humor, a few surprising moments, and a great heart.

Even though it might need a little updating, this is still a great place to head when the Parks get busy. Most Guests in Frontierland are rushing to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Splash Mountain, leaving the wait time short for this showdown.

Magic Kingdom has so many unique experiences throughout the Park. Although most of us want to experience the top attractions, when those wait times start to climb, we are looking for other options. We hope you have found some possibilities for attractions at Magic Kingdom that can be great during busy times.
