Lucasfilm Officially Brings Back Mando and Grogu After Box Office Bomb
Fans waiting for more adventures featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu may have to look beyond the big screen for the foreseeable future, but that doesn’t mean the beloved Star Wars duo is disappearing from the galaxy far, far away.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Return
The pair’s latest adventure has arrived in comic book stores just in time for Halloween, giving fans another chance to follow the bounty hunter and his young apprentice while their future in live-action remains uncertain.
Titled Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu—Nightmare on Nevarro, the new one-shot comes from Mad Cave Studios and its young readers imprint, Papercutz, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Publishing. Written by Delilah S. Dawson, with artwork by Alessandro Ranaldi, the spooky story went on sale October 21, 2026.
According to the official synopsis, sinister creatures with glowing red eyes have begun terrorizing Nevarro. Din Djarin and his foundling must investigate the mysterious threat, venturing into the planet’s magma-filled lava tubes to uncover the truth.

The comic follows The Mandalorian and Grogu: Danger in the Dark, which was released earlier this year, and is set between the third season of The Mandalorian (2019) and The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026).
Their continued presence in other media comes at a time when their future on screen is far less certain. The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed $345 million worldwide against a reported $165 million production budget, making it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film ever.
The movie also received a mixed reception, while the possibility of a fourth season of The Mandalorian has reportedly been shelved. Still, the Disney+ series remains one of the franchise’s biggest successes, and Din and Grogu continue to feature in comics, games, and other projects.
For now, fans can revisit the pair’s adventures in The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is streaming on Disney+. The next theatrical Star Wars release is Star Wars: Starfighter (2027), starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, which arrives in theaters on May 28, 2027.
