EPCOT guests may notice a small but meaningful change inside World Nature this week. One of the park’s longest-running attractions has shifted into its seasonal mode earlier than expected, creating a quiet ripple just as the holiday rush begins.
Living With the Land has remained one of EPCOT’s most consistent (and underrated) offerings since the park’s early years, reflecting the original focus on agriculture, sustainability, and human innovation. The slow boat ride moves through working greenhouses that support research and provide ingredients for EPCOT restaurants, linking the attraction to the wider food landscape of Walt Disney World.

Its ties to dining — from Garden Grill’s rotating produce to Sunshine Seasons’ menu staples — have helped the ride endure even as EPCOT continues adding new IP-driven attractions and large-scale expansions. The Land Pavilion remains one of the park’s most recognizable anchors, supported by experiences such as the Behind the Seeds Tour.
A Seasonal Change Arrives Early
The classic EPCOT attraction Living With the Land is now out of action, and earlier than Disney originally announced. The pause arrives as the park prepares its annual holiday overlay, Living With the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses, which typically debuts later in November.
Despite its low-key approach and lack of characters, the ride has become a seasonal favorite during EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Disney describes the overlay as a chance to “celebrate the most bountiful time of year with a special voyage through greenhouses decorated with dazzling lights.”

Disney began adding décor earlier this week. The holiday version was initially scheduled to open on November 28, but guests were met with an early surprise. Living With the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses is already operating, nearly a week ahead of its planned debut.
The early opening allows guests to experience the lights, wreaths, and small touches — including hidden Mickeys with reindeer noses and antlers — that distinguish the seasonal version from the original attraction.
EPCOT’s Holiday Season Takes Shape
The holiday overlay runs through December 30, 2025, alongside other offerings within EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. These include Santa Goofy Greeting at The Odyssey, a traditional Santa Claus meet-and-greet at CommuniCore Hall, JOYFUL! A Celebration of the Season, and Holiday Storytellers around World Showcase.

Guests looking for a closer look at the greenhouses can book the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses Tour. The seasonal program, priced at $59 per person, expands on the standard Behind the Seeds experience with holiday décor inside the Land Pavilion’s backstage spaces.
EPCOT’s seasonal food offerings remain a major draw. This year’s Holiday Kitchens include Le Marché de Noël in the France Pavilion, Yukon Holiday Kitchen in the Canada Pavilion, and Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen in the Japan Pavilion, each offering limited-time snacks tied to the festival.
Living With the Land’s early transition into its holiday overlay offers an unexpected change for guests planning visits this week. It also reflects how EPCOT continues adapting long-standing attractions to fit the park’s evolving seasonal calendar while maintaining the agricultural focus that has defined the ride for decades.
