Guests Report Disney Cast Member for Shouting “Jesus Christ!” Even Though He Saved Child’s Life

A wild day on Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safaris turned even wilder when a cast member’s quick reflexes saved guests from an unexpected close encounter—only for some guests to take issue with his choice of words during the rescue.

According to a recent Reddit post, a Disney cast member had a near miss with a giraffe that abruptly crossed paths with his safari vehicle. Redditor u/squirt_jacket shared the story, recounting how things escalated when a passenger in the back disregarded safety protocols. The guest repeatedly allowed a child to stand on the seat for a better view, ignoring several warnings from the driver.

“Guy in the back seat with his kid kept holding her up to see animals, yelling to animals, & letting the kid stand up on the seat to see over the edge,” the Reddit user wrote. “Just being a general poor guest despite being told multiple times by the driver to knock it off.”

Staying seated is essential on Kilimanjaro Safaris. The ride vehicles can be unpredictable, and a sudden jolt could send a standing guest tumbling—not something anyone wants in the heart of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park’s African savanna.

As the driver attempted to maintain control and continually warn the family, the Walt Disney World Resort safari took an unexpected twist. Just as the driver glanced in his mirror to warn the guests once more, a giraffe darted in front of the truck. Without hesitation, the cast member hit the brakes, loudly exclaiming, “Jesus Christ!” to the startled passengers. The sudden stop jolted the standing child forward—a tense moment, but everyone remained safe.

While many might consider this a heroic save, some guests took issue with the cast member’s exclamation. According to the Reddit post, several guests reported him to Disney management for using the phrase “Jesus Christ!” as part of his quick reaction.

“A bunch of people on the bus were very upset that he said Jesus Christ & ended up reporting him when we got off,” the Redditor continued. “Guests suck sometimes.”

While the Walt Disney World Resort cast member’s instinctive shout may have ruffled feathers, his quick thinking kept the guests and the giraffe safe from harm. It’s a reminder of just how unpredictable (and sometimes dramatic) a day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park can be.
