Key Decisions That Will Make a Big Difference On Your Disney Trip

As you plan your Walt Disney World vacation, it is easy to make sure you make the big decisions. You determine what Disney Resort, what dining reservations, and if you will use Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. While these are huge decisions in your planning process and will significantly impact your overall vacation experience, some other incidents will have just as big of an impact.

We are going to share some of the critical decisions that can have a significant difference on your Walt Disney World vacation. You might only think about these decisions once it is too late. We hope by bringing them to your attention early, you will be able to have a plan and therefore have an even better Walt Disney World vacation.

Stay Hydrated

Before heading down to Walt Disney World, have a plan to keep everyone hydrated. Drinking enough water at home is difficult for most of us. Now consider that you will walk over ten miles daily in the Florida heat and humidity; staying hydrated will be essential.

Ensure everyone has a water bottle you can bring into the Parks and refill. You can find some quick service locations that will provide you with free iced water. If you don’t want to worry about refilling bottles throughout the day, consider having bottled water delivered to your Walt Disney World Resort. This can save you money and help prevent dehydration throughout the day.

Eat Those Fruit and Veggies

Don’t get us wrong. We love the Disney fries, corn dog nuggets, and ice cream throughout our trip. While these items are a fun part of a vacation, it is also essential that everyone gets the right fuel to help make it through those long days.

Meltdowns due to tummy aches can be a result of not getting enough nutritional fuel throughout the day. Disney has done a great job providing those fantastic ice cream sandwiches and nutritional items throughout the Parks and Resorts. You can find fresh fruit, hummus cups, and other options that are good to add throughout the day.

Ensure you have some nutritional items along with those Disney treats. Remember, you can also have items delivered to your Walt Disney World Resort. This can be an excellent way to ensure you get some good fruits and veggies throughout the day.

Focus on Sleep Too

It is easy to wrap up in the Disney Parks once you arrive in the magic. Because of this, it can be easy to keep going even when everyone is tired. Don’t overschedule yourself during your vacation. Take items to allow for good sleep; essential to stay fresh during your vacation.

When making your daily plans for your vacation, think about how your consecutive Theme Park days line up. If you plan on staying late for fireworks or even splurging on an after-hours event, rope drops the following day might not be the best idea. Consider if your kids still take naps during the day and schedule around those.

Even if you don’t want to head back to the Resort for a nap, slow down and relax in the Parks during your usual nap time. Don’t schedule dining reservations or Genie+ return times for those peak nap times. This can result in little ones melting down. The excitement of Walt Disney World will want to push you to keep going, but eventually, everyone will crash. Be proactive by ensuring everyone gets good sleep during your vacation.

Taking Resort Time

One great way to make sure you get some sleep and rest is to plan some time at your Resort. You might consider a whole Resort day if you have a more extended vacation. If not, consider taking a morning or afternoon to hang out at the Resort instead of at the Parks.

The Walt Disney World Resorts have so much to offer Guests. Start by enjoying the fantastic pool at your Resort. No matter where you stay, the Disney Resorts are fantastic. Some activities take place at the main pools each afternoon. This is fun for everyone to participate in.

You can enjoy crafts, scavenger hunts, and other experiences at your Disney Resort. Ask at the front desk for the Resort activities. By taking time to enjoy your Resort, you will help prevent meltdowns.

Be Flexible

We know you have been planning your vacation for months or years, but flexibility is vital to a successful Walt Disney World vacation. Be aware that someone is getting tired, dehydrated, or hungry, and allow yourself time to step back and evaluate your plans. Pushing everyone to do a meal or a ride when they aren’t feeling up to it won’t be magical for anyone. Instead, be willing to adjust the plans.

If you need to reschedule a reservation because someone just can’t do a sit-down meal, be okay. Consider pushing it to later in your trip or enjoy one of the tremendous quick-service locations. The most important part of a Walt Disney World vacation is the magical memories you make with those you love. If you push them to the point they are miserable, those memories aren’t as magical.

When planning a trip to Walt Disney World, think about these critical decisions as well. By having a plan for ensuring basic needs are met throughout the trip, you will have a much better experience.
