Guests Climb Out of Disney Coaster at 90-Degree Angle, 100 Feet Up
Imagine getting stuck on a roller coaster 100 feet in the air, tilted at a steep angle, and having to climb down. That was the reality for guests riding the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure Park, as a recent breakdown left them stranded at one of the highest points of the attraction.
A Steep Climb on the Incredicoaster
The Incredicoaster is a signature attraction at Disney California Adventure Park. Originally opening as California Screamin’ in 2001, the roller coaster underwent a Pixar-themed transformation in 2018, aligning with the creation of Pixar Pier. The ride’s thrilling design, unique inversion, and high-speed drops make it a fan favorite, but on rare occasions, technical issues require Disney cast members to initiate an evacuation.
TikTok user @themadivlog recently shared her experience of being stuck on the Incredicoaster at what she described as nearly a “90-degree angle.”

“Walking down the highest point on a roller coaster was not on my to-do list,” the Disney Park guest said.
The Evacuation Process
When a Disney Park coaster experiences a technical or safety issue, cast members attempt to bring the ride vehicles back to the loading area for disembarkation. However, this isn’t always possible. In such cases, Disney cast members follow strict safety protocols to evacuate guests directly from the ride vehicles.
In this instance, a Disneyland Resort cast member arrived to unlock the guests’ safety restraints and guide them off the ride. Before beginning the descent, guests were instructed to secure any loose items like hats, glasses, or Mickey ears to prevent them from falling.
Guests carefully descended emergency exit stairs, which follow the track back to the ground.
An Unforgettable Experience
Evacuating from such a height might be a thrill of its own, but it wasn’t a memory this Disney Park guest wanted to repeat. After safely reaching the ground, she was given a complimentary Lightning Lane pass to use on another attraction or for the Incredicoaster once it reopened. Despite the gesture, she admitted she “would not” be riding the Pixar-themed coaster again.
Disneyland Resort did not publicly announce the reason for the ride’s breakdown, but the attraction reopened later in the day and was operating normally by the time of this article’s finalization.
