Disney Park Guests Burned on Attraction for Over an Hour
Dozens of Disneyland Resort guests were left more than 100 feet up in the air, unprotected from the hot Southern California sunshine, after the Incredicoaster broke down. A video showed the guests stranded on the 120-foot tall roller coaster, eventually walking along the tracks to evacuate.
This April, Walt Disney Imagineering embarked on an extensive refurbishment of the Incredicoaster. Crews retracted the loop on the former California Screamin’, which has served as Disney California Adventure Park’s icon since 2001. It received its The Incredibles (2004) makeover alongside the rest of Pixar Pier, which opened in 2018.
Despite the recent refurbishment, the Incredicoaster is still experiencing issues. In June, the attraction hit mainstream news when Disney cast members evacuated 20 guests who were trapped for 30 minutes. Videos showed the employees in safety harnesses helping guests descend the ride.
A similar incident occurred last week and was captured on video by TikTok user @themouseforless. The Disney Park guest was headed to the Incredicoaster when they noticed guests trapped on the roller coaster in the boiling hot sun:
@themouseforless Imagine being stuck on the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure for an hour or more in the hot sun! I would become a lobster! What if you had to use the restroom while you’re stuck on Incredicoaster? New fear unlocked!!! #disneycaliforniaadventure #Incredicoaster #disbeyrides
Riders reportedly awaited rescue for over an hour in an un-shaded part of the ride.
“Imagine being stuck on the Incredicoaster at Disney California Adventure for an hour or more in the hot sun!” the Disney Park guest wrote. “I would become a lobster! What if you had to use the restroom while you’re stuck on Incredicoaster? New fear unlocked!!!”
Disneyland employees eventually unlocked the ride vehicle and helped the guests descend the emergency exit stairs. Still, Disney Parks fans weren’t impressed by the incident.
“That’s why I don’t ride roller coasters,” @tess.queenb.garcia wrote.
“[I’d] be seeing,” said @rosaduran78.
It’s unclear what caused last week’s evacuation of the Incredicoaster. The roller coaster eventually reopened and was operating normally at the time of this article’s publication.
