Hoping for the Best While Preparing for the Worst at Disney

No one wants to think about what could go wrong during their Walt Disney World vacation; however, it is important to do so.  If you think about these little things that could go wrong you will be more prepared if they do.  No matter how much you plan, pack, and prepare ahead of time things go wrong even at Walt Disney World.

We don’t want to stress you out, but we do want to bring these mishaps to your attention.  By doing that, we are hopeful you will be prepared and ready if you happen to come across these issues while on your Disney vacation.

Make a Plan, but Be Ready To Change

At How to Disney, we are a big believer in having a plan when you head to Walt Disney World.  No more than ever it is important to do a little planning before heading into your first Disney Park.

By having a plan, you will be more prepared as you walk into a Disney Park.  This will typically allow you to see and do more because you aren’t wasting time trying to figure out what to do next.

Even though you might walk into Walt Disney World with the best plans ever, know that things do happen.  Because of this, you will want to be okay and ready to change those plans as you go.  Rides break down, bathroom breaks are needed, and people get tired and cranky.  All of these things can and probably will at some point during your trip.

When these mishaps happen, don’t panic or stress out.  Take a moment and go with the flow.  You have done your research and this will allow you to take a bad situation and turn it around.  Even though you want to plan for the best, allow yourself the ability to change those plans as needed.

Enjoy an extra Mickey Bar on Main Street, U.S.A., walk around the Tree of Life a few more times, or take some time to enjoy your Disney Resort.  Allowing yourself to make these changes will keep the magic going.

Hope For Sunshine, but Prepare For Rain

We all hope that our Disney vacations will be filled with beautiful sunny days.  The reality is that you need to also prepare for rain during your Disney vacation.  You need to prepare for both extremes of weather when heading to Walt Disney World.

Hope for sunshine and days at the Disney Resort pool by having those swimsuits packed, sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfy clothes packed.  Prepare for those showers as well by packing rain jackets, umbrellas, and shoes that do well in the rain.

These storms can come up quickly so you will want to make sure you have rain gear with you even if it is nice and sunny when you leave the Disney Resort.  Rain doesn’t mean that the magic is done.  There are a lot of experiences that can be enjoyed during the rain.  Throw on the rain gear and keep on going.

Plan a Budget, but Be Willing To Adjust

We all know that a trip to Walt Disney World isn’t cheap.  It is probably a good idea to set some sort of budget as you are planning so you don’t get swept up in the magic and overspend.  Set a basic budget for food, survivors, and other experiences that you know you are planning on doing.

Even as you are planning and setting a budget, go into the trip knowing you might have to adjust slightly.  Leave some room for adjustments and last-minute expenses you might not anticipate.  No matter how much your budget, there will be things that cost a little more than expected.  Go into the trip aware of this so you don’t spend it worrying about how much everything costs.

We have a good post HERE about added expenses to think about when planning your Disney vacation.  These might help you anticipate a little more about what you might need to add to your budget.

Plan On Being Healthy, but Prepare for Illness

No one wants to think about getting sick at Walt Disney World.  This is supposed to be a magical trip where nothing bad can happen.  Even though we all wish that was true, the reality is that people get sick and accidents happen even at Walt Disney World.

Prepare for family members getting sick by bringing over-the-counter medicine as well as any prescription medicine you might need.  Traveling is a lot on the body so you never know when stomach aches, allergies, migraines, and other illnesses might sneak up on you.  Having the medicine already with you to fight off these issues will make it a lot less stressful of a situation.

Know that if something does come up Disney will help you problem solve a solution.  Don’t try to figure it all out on your own.  There are medical professionals and pharmacies that work with Disney that can help you get what you need.

We would love it if everyone stayed healthy during their Disney vacations; however, since we know this isn’t possible we like to be prepared.

When planning a trip to Walt Disney World we all hope for the best.  We all want to have the most magical and wonderful vacation possible with our loved ones.  Although we hope that this is the case for everyone, we also realized that things happen.  These are some of the most common issues that come up during a Disney vacation.

By bringing them to your attention before your vacation, we hope that you will be able to prepare for them and by doing so be less stressed if they come up during your Walt Disney World vacation.
