Disney Updates Original Walt Disney Attraction, Leaving Fans Surprised

Disneyland Resort has quietly made changes to Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, leaving fans speculating about the future of this beloved attraction. Known for its charm and history, the Audio-Animatronic show has been a staple of Disneyland Park for over six decades. However, unannounced updates to the attraction’s exterior have raised eyebrows among Disney theme park enthusiasts.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – A Timeless Classic

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room holds a special place in Disney Park history. Debuting at Disneyland Park in 1963, it was the first attraction to feature Audio-Animatronics, showcasing Walt Disney’s innovative spirit. Walt Disney World Resort’s version of the show, originally called Tropical Serenade, opened with Magic Kingdom Park in 1971.

Over the years, the Central Florida attraction has seen updates, including a controversial period where Iago from Aladdin (1992) and Zazu from The Lion King (1994) took over the show in The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management). Following a fire in 2011, the Magic Kingdom Park show was restored to Walt Disney’s original vision.

At Disneyland Park, the 61-year-old show remains one of the last attractions directly overseen by Walt Disney, making it a fan favorite and a symbol of Disney’s legacy.

This week, Disneyland Park guests noticed construction on the roof of the Enchanted Tiki Room building. Reddit user u/burbankbagel shared photos of the updates, showing an unusual addition to the Adventureland structure’s exterior. “Any idea what’s happening here?” the user asked. “Are they reskinning it?”

Fans quickly chimed in with their thoughts. Many pointed out that the Audio-Animatronic show shares its building with Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, which is currently closed for refurbishment. Speculation arose that the construction may be related to that ongoing project rather than a direct update to the attraction itself.

“It shares the building/roof with Jolly Holiday so it’s part of Jolly Holiday’s construction,” Redditor u/JoeeyMKT explained.

“When in doubt, OSHA,” said u/duck_mancer. “I’m not a contractor, but I’d guess they needed some sort of ‘guard rail’ or something that wasn’t just a plain 2×4 and that’s the best thing they had on hand.”
