Doing This Will Make Your Disney Trip Harder

Walt Disney World is a magical and wonderful vacation experience.  There is so much to see and do that it truly is a fantastic experience.  We love helping people plan their Walt Disney World trips here at How to Disney.  Providing tips and tricks on where to stay, where to eat, and how to tour the Disney Parks is a passion.

As you are preparing for your Walt Disney World trip, there are some things you should be aware of that could make your trip harder.  We want you to have the most magical, and relaxing, vacation possible when at the Walt Disney World Resort.  Because of this, we also want to share ways that you might make your trip to Disney harder than it needs to be.

Don’t Plan It All Out

Obviously, we are fans of having a plan when you head to Walt Disney World.  We have a lot of tips and suggestions on How to Disney regarding what rides to ride in each Disney Park and even how to tour them.

What you don’t want to do though is to plan out every minute of every day.  Doing this is setting yourself up for frustration.  The reality is that you are going to need to be flexible with your plan.  Rides break down, kids have meltdowns, adults get hangry, and it rains.

If you have every minute planned out, you won’t be able to adjust to these things that pop up and that can make you feel frustrated.

The key, in our opinion, is to have an overall plan.  What top rides and dining items do you want to make sure you hit in each Disney Park (Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT).  Knowing this and then filling in with additional magic is the way to go.

Being flexible with your plan will make touring the Parks a lot easier and allow you to stop and enjoy the magic that pops up throughout your trip that you can’t plan for but is truly amazing.

You Can’t Do It All

You are setting yourself up for frustration if you head into your Walt Disney World vacation thinking you are going to do it all.  Walt Disney World is huge- like a whole city huge- and no matter how long you stay you won’t be able to do it all in one trip.

Instead of being frustrated that you can’t do it all, go in with your top choices.  Have a must-do list for the group and focus on getting that done during your vacation.

Having 3-5 main rides/experiences in each of the Disney Parks is something that you can accomplish and will set you up for feeling successful.

Thinking you can do it all is setting yourself up to be stressed and overwhelmed during your trip.  Don’t do that to yourself.  Instead, focus on those must-dos and be ready to knock those out.

My Disney Experience App

Not Using My Disney Experience

One of the most important things to know about before heading to Walt Disney World is that My Disney Experience is extremely important.  This is Disney’s official app and gives Guests access to so much that will help their Walt Disney World vacation be successful.

If you wait until you arrive at Walt Disney World to download, sign in, and look at the app you are setting yourself up to be frustrated.  The app offers a lot of information, but it does take some time to figure it all out.

We highly recommend downloading the app early on in your planning and then spending time navigating what it offers.  We have a few posts on How to Disney to help you navigate My Disney Experience.

Not Planning Rest Time

Walt Disney World is magical, but it is also tiring.  Don’t make the mistake of not planning rest time throughout your Disney trip.  Focusing yourself to push through each day will just make it harder on you and everyone else.

We highly recommend scheduling some rest time each day of your vacation.  This could mean heading back to your Disney Resort to enjoy the pool or take a nap.  You can also enjoy rest time in the Disney Parks.  Consider having a meal at a sit-down restaurant.  Or head to a nearby Resort to check it out and relax.

By scheduling rest time into your daily plans, you will be setting yourself for a much more relaxing and enjoyable trip overall.

Taking the Wrong Advice

The final thing that can make your trip harder is listening to the wrong advice.  If you have told friends and family that you are heading to Walt Disney World, you have probably learned that everyone has an opinion.

As you start planning, make sure you don’t get overwhelmed by all the advice from everyone.  Focus on getting your advice from those that are the experts or from Walt Disney World.

Keep in mind that everyone has an opinion and just because they liked or didn’t like something doesn’t mean it will be the same for you.  Do your own research so you can make your own decisions.

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be difficult.  Don’t make it any harder than it needs to be.  Consider these things that can make your trip harder and make sure you have a plan before you head down for your Walt Disney World vacation.  Doing this will make you ready for a magical trip.
