Disney Park Security Misses Large Knife Carried by Guest

An unusual and alarming incident occurred at Disneyland Paris Resort when a family managed to sneak a large knife into the park. This took place in front of the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle, where the family had set up a birthday picnic, complete with a festive cake. Reddit user u/erikthered65 recounted the moment as one of the most entitled behaviors they had observed at a Disney theme park.
The picnic involved nearly fifteen adults who spread a large blanket spread across a walkway, celebrating a toddler’s birthday. Security attempted to clear the walkway as the festivities unfolded, and tensions heightened when the group revealed a “big ass knife” intended for cutting the birthday cake.

“Most surprising was the big ass knife they had [for] the cake,” the Reddit user recalled. “Not sure how the scanners missed that.”
Disneyland Paris Security Response and Protocols
The presence of a knife in a Disney theme park prompted swift action from Disney cast members and security personnel. As soon as the picnic setup was discovered, cast members sought to clear the walkway, which was obstructing the flow of guests. Their efforts were compounded by the urgency to address the weapon’s presence, raising alarms about the safety of all visitors at the park.

The Disneyland Paris Resort has strict security protocols, which include screening all guests upon entry for prohibited items. Weapons, hazardous materials, and even items that could resemble weapons are strictly forbidden. Despite these measures, the presence of such a large knife raised questions about the effectiveness of security checks.
Historically, Disneyland Paris has dealt with similar occurrences; in 2023, there was an incident involving another family cutting a cake in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, leading to a similar response from security cast members.
