Disney World Makes Surprise Removal Near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets
Something has disappeared from a recently updated section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and guests visiting the area may notice that the experience looks a little different.
Walt Disney World regularly makes adjustments to its theme parks, sometimes changing entire attractions and other times removing smaller decorative features.
While major construction projects typically receive the most attention, smaller changes can also affect the atmosphere of a themed location.

That’s especially true when those details were designed to make guests laugh.
Now, Disney has removed part of a Muppets photo opportunity that was introduced as part of the characters’ new presence at Hollywood Studios.
And although the main display remains standing, the area no longer looks exactly as it once did.
The Muppets Have a New Home at Disney World
Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone a significant Muppets transformation in 2026.
For years, visitors associated the characters with Muppet*Vision 3D, a theater attraction featuring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and several other familiar faces.
However, Disney eventually moved forward with plans that changed the characters’ longtime presence at the park.
The Muppets subsequently received a new attraction centered around the Electric Mayhem.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets opened on May 26, 2026, replacing the attraction’s former Aerosmith theme.
The experience now focuses on the band’s musical personality, bringing the characters into a high-speed roller coaster environment.
Disney also expanded the theme into the surrounding area.
Rock Around the Shop introduced new merchandise, while a nearby mural gave visitors another place to enjoy the Electric Mayhem without necessarily boarding the attraction.
That mural originally featured something rather unusual on the floor.
A Small Muppets Detail Has Disappeared
WDW News Today reported on October 18 that Disney removed four sets of footprints from the Electric Mayhem photo location.
The markings previously appeared on the wooden floor beneath the colorful mural.
While they looked like designated standing positions, their placement was intentionally ridiculous.
Two sets faced outward, providing visitors with appropriate positions for photographs.
The other two faced unexpected directions, making it difficult to follow the markings while posing normally.
Disney even included written jokes to make the arrangement more entertaining.

The middle footprints identified visitors as the “fan club president” and “lead singer.”
Meanwhile, the other positions featured messages questioning why guests were facing the wrong direction.
It was exactly the type of unusual humor fans might expect from the Muppets.
Rather than offering a standard photo location, Disney had created an opportunity for visitors to become part of the joke.
However, those markings are no longer present.
Disney Leaves the Main Photo Display Untouched
Although the footprints have disappeared, Disney hasn’t removed the surrounding mural.
Guests can still find the Electric Mayhem members positioned around a bright orange lightning bolt.
Musical notes, stars, and hearts decorate the brick wall, creating a colorful background for photographs.
Nearby paint cans and equipment cases add to the scene, while a warning about wet paint continues the playful theme.
The main difference involves the floor.
Photographs published in the report show darker patches and scuff marks where the original footprints once appeared.
Those marks are now visible without the decorative designs covering the area.
Disney has not publicly explained the decision, and there is no confirmed timeline for restoring the markings.
That leaves open the possibility of future adjustments, although guests shouldn’t assume replacements are coming.
Another Change for Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The missing footprints might seem like a minor adjustment compared to the larger changes happening throughout Hollywood Studios.
However, themed details can make a difference in how visitors experience an attraction’s surrounding environment.
The Muppets are famous for their unusual jokes and unpredictable personalities, making even simple floor decorations an opportunity for entertainment.

Removing those details takes away one small part of that experience.
Fortunately, the broader Electric Mayhem area remains available.
Guests can continue enjoying Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, browsing the merchandise at Rock Around the Shop, and posing for photographs with the mural.
For now, Disney hasn’t indicated whether the missing footprints will return.
The change serves as another example of how quickly the appearance of a theme park location can evolve, even shortly after a major update.
