Could Abandoned Disney World Hotel Be Making Room for Tiana?

Disney World is home to several different resorts and hotels for guests to choose from.

Walt Disney World hotels have their own unique charm and theme, allowing guests to choose an experience that resonates with their interests and preferences. When Disney guests plan a stay at a Disney hotel, they can choose what theme, size room and much more when picking the perfect Disney Resort. Guests looking for animals on the horizon can stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, or guests hoping to spot the fireworks from Cinderella Castle can stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney guest can also stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and many more Disney hotels to choose from.

While Disney World sees thousands of guests daily, one Disney hotel had to close its doors. Fans believe it was too expensive or only for certain guests. Disney’s Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser opened on March 1, 2022, and on September 30, took its last voyage. 

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser offered a “fully immersive experience” designed to make guests feel like they are aboard a luxury starship in the Star Wars universe. When guests enter the terminal, they are treated as a passenger on the Halcyon, a Chandrila Star Line starcruiser. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the authentic Star Wars-themed decor to the cast members in costume who stay in character throughout your stay.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was designed to complement Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Guests of the Star Cruiser got exclusive access to Galaxy’s Edge, allowing for a seamless transition between the two experiences.

With this Resort closing, this leaves guests wondering what will take its spot. Many guests and fans speculate that Disney may repurpose the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience into something else in the future. Disney also has a history of allowing unsuccessful ventures to remain inactive. Disney is known for its significant investments in its projects and the substantial costs. Examples of this can be seen in cases like River Country, Discovery Island, and the Wonders of Life Pavilion, all of which were eventually left unused and unchanged. Will this happen to Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser? Well in a social media post, fans have cracked the code to what will be replacing it.

Drum roll, please… Tiana from Princess and the Frog will take over the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, at least according to one guests’ hilarious joke.

Some Disney fans called Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser a prison due to having no windows.

“Kind of hard with no windows, pool, or any other outside ambiance. Unless they theme it to a Supermax Prison.”

While we are still unsure what will happen to Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, we would love to hear what you are hoping to take its place. I personally am hoping for a Figment hotel with that lovable purple dragon messing with guests’ rooms. One can find a dream, can’t they?

Disney will face an uphill battle because of the limited space that the Galactic Starcruiser has, but many believe it may simply be turned into a luxury Star Wars-themed hotel. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
