Walt Disney World Resort is known for its whimsical charm and magical atmosphere, offering guests a place to escape and make memories that last a lifetime. But as with any bustling entertainment complex, moments of conflict can occasionally break through the magic. One such incident occurred recently at Disney Springs, where a viral video showed an explosive altercation between guests.
The video quickly made waves online, and now, the woman at the center of the controversy is speaking out to explain her side of the story.

Monica, a former Disney cast member, found herself embroiled in a physical confrontation at the World of Disney store, one of the most popular shopping destinations at Disney Springs. The fight, which was captured on video and spread across social media, left Monica with visible injuries and a ban from Disney properties.
But as with many viral incidents, there’s more to the story than what was initially shown. In a heartfelt video, Monica describes what led to the altercation, how things escalated, and the aftermath, including her ban from Disney.
A Family Visit Gone Wrong
Monica’s visit to Disney Springs began as a typical family outing. She was there with her son, her cousin, her cousin’s wife, and their child. The group was enjoying their day when they found themselves in the checkout line at the World of Disney store.

While the experience started out normally, things soon took a turn when Monica’s son noticed a slap bracelet and asked if he could get one. Monica, who wanted to make her son happy, agreed, and they began searching for the perfect one.
As they continued shopping, the line was slowly moving forward, and Monica said she noticed the people behind her becoming frustrated with her and her son’s delay. According to Monica, the group behind her was growing impatient, which led them to make comments under their breath.
The group allegedly began speaking in Spanish, a language Monica understood, but she chose to ignore the comments. She explains that she felt they were “tourists who don’t know how to act,” but continued on, trying not to let the frustration of others affect her.

The Tension Builds
Despite Monica’s attempts to brush off the growing tension, the situation didn’t improve when her group was called to the next register. As she was trying to maneuver her stroller, which got caught on a barrier, the group behind her grew more irate. They reportedly told her to hurry up and that she had been called to the counter. Monica, already feeling the pressure, tried to move as quickly as she could, but her stroller remained stuck.
Monica describes how the people behind her continued to push her, even making snide remarks as they stood next to her at the register. It was at this point that she began to feel the frustration build up. She finally snapped and made a comment about one of the women’s nose jobs in response to the ongoing insults. According to Monica, the situation reached a boiling point when one of the men in the group, wearing a brown t-shirt, called her “fat and ugly.”

The Escalation
The argument grew increasingly heated, and Monica admits that she threatened to throw her slushy drink at the group. The man in the brown t-shirt reportedly encouraged her to do it, while another man in the group urged her to just pay and leave. Monica then claims that the man accused her of not having enough money to pay.
This remark seemed to be the final straw for Monica, who, in a moment of anger, threw her slushy at one of the women in the group.
This triggered an even more aggressive response. Monica claims that the man in the brown t-shirt punched her twice in the face, splitting her lip.

At this point, a nearby guest began filming the altercation, which would later go viral on social media. What viewers didn’t see was the escalation that occurred just before the camera started rolling. Monica’s cousin’s wife quickly moved the children away from the scene to ensure their safety, but the fight continued.
No Immediate Security Response
As the fight intensified, security at Disney Springs took much longer than expected to arrive. Monica recounts how the other man in the group placed her in a chokehold, and she fought back, hitting whoever she could to try and get free.
The scene was chaotic, and while Disney security eventually appeared, they did not intervene quickly enough to prevent the situation from escalating further.
@livingwmonica Yes I was upset too that this happened at Disney I said it the whole time. We’re literally in Disney and people can’t act right And that’s it that’s the story make your own opinion about it God bless you all #happiestplaceonearth #disneysprings
Monica’s recount of the altercation paints a picture of a long delay in security’s response, leaving her feeling vulnerable and helpless. As she tried to leave the store and get some air, a Disney cast member allegedly stopped her, holding her son back and preventing her from exiting. This was reportedly done to ensure that Monica didn’t leave the scene before the authorities arrived.
Monica describes feeling overwhelmed by the situation, and she began crying while waiting for the police to show up.
The Aftermath and Disney’s Response
Once the police arrived, Monica explained the situation to them in full detail. She stated that she didn’t know the individuals involved in the fight and expressed her frustration with how the situation was handled. She was shocked when she learned that, despite her injuries and the fact that she had been assaulted, she was banned from all Disney properties.

Monica explained that Disney officials told her she could appeal the ban in a year, but for now, she was no longer welcome at the resort.
Many on social media have rallied behind Monica, with some offering legal advice and even encouraging her to press charges. They pointed out that Disney Springs has extensive security cameras, and the police should be able to trace the group’s movements after the fight. If they paid with a credit card, they might be identifiable, raising questions about why Disney wasn’t able to take further action against the group involved.
Despite her anger and the pain from the altercation, Monica expresses gratitude that her son remained unharmed during the fight. She acknowledges that she shouldn’t have thrown the drink but insists that her actions were driven by the ongoing verbal assault and the escalating tension.

As the story gained traction, many viewers of the viral video began to question Disney’s handling of the situation. Some believe that Disney should have acted more swiftly in stopping the group from leaving the store and potentially identifying them. Others argue that Monica’s actions—while understandably emotional—could have been avoided if the situation hadn’t been allowed to escalate so quickly.
Monica’s story has sparked a wider conversation about conflict resolution and the role of security in managing confrontations at theme parks. With the viral nature of the video and the intense emotions surrounding the incident, it’s clear that Disney will likely have to reassess its approach to similar situations in the future.
What do you think? Was Monica justified in her actions given the circumstances, or did she overreact in the heat of the moment? Should Disney have taken stronger action against the group involved in the altercation? And most importantly, do you believe Disney’s response was appropriate? Am I right in thinking that all she was doing it first was holding up the line? Then all she needed to do is allow the next shoppers to move ahead while they continued to shop for the perfect slapband. Nobody needed to get angry. Do that until they are ready to rejoin the line for checking out, then they’d be focused on moving up AND not getting stuck in a hurry with a snarky mob.
Agreed. If her son wanted an item while in line, she should have let the people behind her move on. This happened with my family when the kids were young and wanted something. So we let people behind us move ahead. No reason a few extra minutes on line anywhere can’t be resolved simply with a little common decency. Throwing the slushy placed Monica dead wrong. Trust me, I’ve had similar urges while in a show or on lines with people being rude or talking during during the performances. The urge to do something harmful does come upon people especially after a long day trudging thru WDW and standing on long lines for 3 minutes of entertainment.
absolutely right. Get your children in church where they will be taught how to behave….
According to MONICA the Latinos were the ones who started this fight because they are unruly all over WDW PROPERTIES. Especially at the Parks they don’t have the right to go anywhere on property and continue to be rude and obnoxious speaking in their language saying what ever they want they should be BANNED FROM PROPERTY AS WELL DUE TO THEIR BEHAVIOR OR LACK OF MANNERS you are in AMERICA SPEAK ENGLISH
obviously only those that were there know what happened……..If I were letting my child pick something out while in line , I would have let the next person in line go ahead of me. If her stroller got stuck she should have let others in line go ahead while she took care of that………..I dont like a lot of confrontation so I try to be helpful and let those in back of me go ahead…………Sometimes that happens say at starbucks if I cannot decide which drink to get, I let the next in line go ahead. No need to throw a drink on anyone or punch or be punched . Sometimes people just have had a rough day and the weather in july doesnt help tempers………….but try to be considerate. I hope the lawyers ( if she hires one) will demand video of the entire situation to see what happened and try to fix the situation if they can.
No way in hell I have had to wait many times for strollers or adults alike and most definitely obnoxious Latinos they SHOULD HAVE KEPT THEIR DAM MOTHS SHUT RATHER THAN HOUNDING THE GIRL BUT NO THEY THINK THEY ARE SO COOL THEY ARE IMMIGRANTS AND DO NOT BELONG IN AMERICA
If she was banned why wasn’t the other group banned? It takes two to have a fight! They should definitely have watched the security footage of the event before doing anything! If the man punched her he should have been arrested!
Being banned from Disney is not a bad thing. There are much better ways to spend your money and be entertained.
