Some Guests Want To Bring These Weapons to Disney Theme Parks

Security cast members potentially prevented a tragedy when they caught a man who attempted to bring a long knife into Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney District. The guest demanded entry after security told him that weapons weren’t permitted at Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Resort prohibits “firearms, ammunition, knives, and weapons of any kind.” It also bans toys or models that look like weapons, such as this keychain that X (formerly Twitter) user @xavierpol couldn’t bring into the Southern California Disney parks:

Nevertheless, some guests attempt to bring weaponry into Disney parks. Redditor u/whatanerdgirlsays recently recalled witnessing a man harass security cast members after they told him he couldn’t take his “hunting knife” into Disneyland Resort:

“One time we were waiting in line to come through security and this guy had a huge knife on him, like, think hunting style knife, just absolutely huge and he was full on arguing with security about bringing it in. All they were saying was take it back to the car and he was refusing, saying he was there with his kids and didn’t wanna go all the way back to the car. This knife was like murderer level. It was wild to watch. I could not understand why he needed that so badly at Disneyland.”

Many Disney Parks fans were horrified that a guest would try to carry a deadly weapon.

“That’s insane,” said u/inkerton_almighty. “I had a mini Swiss army knife that I kept on my keyring and simply forgot about while going into the park, and they made me take it off. I don’t understand how you can think you could get away with bringing anything else into Disney.”

“We got in trouble with Disneyland security because we had a kid’s utensil set and didn’t realize it had a knife in it,” u/packofkittens replied. “It was an unsharpened butter knife for use by little kids. But they said we couldn’t bring it in so we tossed it. Rules are rules!”

Still, some guests felt that Disney security shouldn’t be allowed to dictate what enters the theme parks. u/ledfrog argued that Disneyland Resort should offer weapon storage so guests don’t have to walk back to their cars:

“I carry a pocket knife on me and I know firsthand how frustrating it is to have to walk all the back to the car just to drop it off especially with kids. Personally, I wish Disney would just add new locker areas outside the security perimeter to allow guests to lock prohibited items away without having to go back or surrender them to security. My wife has had to throw away perfectly good mace keychains just because she forgets to take them off.”

Security cast members reserve the right to deny entry to guests carrying objects that threaten the family-friendly Disney Park environment, even if your belongings aren’t explicitly written into the Disneyland Resort rules.
