Disney Park Changing Popular Ride Every Night After 7PM, Effective Immediately
Tokyo Disneyland is in the middle of a busy summer season, with a slate of temporary offerings designed to refresh the guest experience — and deal with the heat.
This year’s Summer Cool-off event includes everything from increased water effects on rides to limited-time shows and modified entertainment. In keeping with past seasonal programming, the updates are more about atmosphere than large-scale attraction changes. Still, one ride in Tomorrowland is receiving a particularly notable adjustment.

The Happy Ride with Baymax, a whip-style spinning ride that debuted in 2020, has been given a nightly variation that shifts how guests experience it after 7 p.m. The ride will play only one song — a track by Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple — during all evening hours through September 15.
The song had been part of the regular six-song playlist since early July. But beginning August 1, it became the exclusive soundtrack of the attraction’s limited-time edition, titled The Happy Ride with Baymax – Special Version.
A Popular Modern Addition
The Happy Ride with Baymax is one of Tokyo Disneyland’s newer additions and the first Disney attraction themed to Big Hero 6. It replaced the Star Jets ride and became an instant hit, especially with local audiences.
The attraction is built around synchronized lighting, upbeat music, and spinning ride vehicles themed to Baymax and his nursebot companions. Each ride cycle is designed to be fast-paced and energizing. The queue area and surrounding plaza have also taken on a life of their own, with guests often joining in as cast members dance along with the ride’s soundtrack.

That atmosphere has only grown during evening hours, when lighting effects and music are more noticeable. The decision to use one consistent song each night appears to have been made with this in mind — helping to create a more cohesive experience after dark.
Increased Interest, Longer Waits
Guests hoping to experience the updated ride should prepare for a wait. Even before this change, The Happy Ride with Baymax was among the park’s most in-demand attractions, alongside the magical experience that is Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast. While Disney Premier Access is available, it frequently sells out during busy summer days.

The limited-time soundtrack update isn’t the only seasonal offering at the park. Splash Mountain has also received summer-specific adjustments, now featuring more water spray to help cool guests off. Country Bear Jamboree has been temporarily refreshed with a summer-themed show, and the park is running a daytime parade titled Baymax’s Mission: Cool Down, during which guests are lightly sprayed with water.
The Happy Ride with Baymax – Special Version runs nightly through September 15. The ride will return to its regular six-song rotation once the seasonal programming concludes.
