Popular Disney Outfit Draws Hate, “Inappropriate”

An increasingly popular Disney Parks outfit caused controversy on social media last week after one woman reported uncomfortable stares and comments from other guests. This comes over a year after a TikTok trend encouraged guests to purposely violate the Disney Dress Code to receive a free shirt.

A Trendy Disney Outfit

During a Disneyland Resort visit, TikToker Steph (@theerealstephh) shared multiple videos of herself in jumpsuits. She alleged that she received glares and even inappropriate comments, all because of her Disney outfits.

“‘Someone’s tia said ‘why would she dress like that,’” Steph wrote in one video’s caption.

Steph wasn’t alone. Other women reported similar reactions when wearing trendy tight jumpsuits at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

“Wait i wore a one piece too and EVERYONE was staring??? like i’m fully clothed rn,” @antiiigiselle replied.

“I was wearing the same thing but shorts version, and I got so many dirty looks,” said @thesarahreynosoo. “I was 3 months pregnant, it was 89 degrees.”

“I wore a romper version at universal and everyoneeeeeeeee was mad 😂 for no reason,” @yessie5555 agreed.

But others blamed the guests for wearing tight clothing at the Disney theme parks. Some said the jumpsuits should violate the Disney dress code.

“It’s meant to show off your body so of course people stare especially when it’s supposed to be a family friendly environment,” @22anonymous222 argued.

“You’re at a place with young children and teens,” @perfectly_br0ken agreed. “I can see how it’s inappropriate… Everything is covered but skin tight.”

“You still can get dress coded cuz of how tight fitting it is,” @kissesandwishes wrote.

But Steph maintained that security never said anything about her outfits, sharing a photo of herself in a different jumpsuit during her visit:

The Disney Dress Code

The jumpsuit doesn’t directly violate the Disney Dress Code, but guests should leave anything they’re uncertain about at home, just in case! Disney cast members are permitted to use discretion when a guest’s attire tows the line.

“The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment,” Disneyland Resort writes. “We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for the parks.”

“Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance or ejection) includes but is not limited to:”

  • Costumes may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older
  • Masks may not be worn by Guests 14 years of age or older (unless they are for medical purposes)
  • Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
  • Excessively torn clothing or loose fitting clothing which may drag on the ground and create a potential trip hazard
  • Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
  • Clothing with multiple layers are subject to search upon entry
  • Visible tattoos that could be considered inappropriate, such as those containing objectionable language or designs
  • Bare feet
