Disney Defends Controversial Ban Policy: What It Means for You
Disney’s DAS pass, short for Disability Access Service, is designed to assist guests with disabilities in experiencing attractions with greater ease and comfort. For many, having a DAS pass is the only way that they can comfortably enjoy a Disney theme park environment. By providing this service, Disney aims to enhance the overall guest experience for visitors with disabilities, ensuring that they can enjoy the magic of the parks just like any other guest.
This system is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests, regardless of their needs or abilities. However, recent years have seen a rise in guests taking advantage of the DAS program by lying about having disabilities in order to get a DAS return time and “skip” long lines. In order to prevent this from happening, Disney has warned any fans that lying will result in a lifetime ban from the parks.

Lying Leads to Lifetime Ban
Deceiving or misrepresenting information to guest relations in order to obtain a Disability Access Service pass is not only unethical, but it also goes against the intended purpose of the system. DAS passes are designed to assist guests with disabilities in accessing certain attraction options at Disney parks more conveniently, ensuring they have equal opportunities to enjoy their visit. By dishonestly acquiring a DAS pass, individuals not only compromise the integrity of the system but also potentially deprive those who genuinely require it of a fair and equal experience.
It’s important to recognize that Disney parks prioritize guest satisfaction and aim to provide a magical experience for all visitors. By exploiting the DAS system through dishonest means, individuals not only violate Disney’s trust but also diminish the overall guest experience by potentially disrupting the efficient operation of the service.

In order to cut down on these kinds of liars, Disney implemented a guest ban policy for this problem a little over a year ago. Despite it being on the website for a long time, many fans are only now realizing its existence. The rules read:
“If it is determined that any of the statements a Guest made in the process of obtaining DAS are not true, the Guest will be permanently barred from entering Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, and any previously purchased Annual Passes , Magic Key passes, tickets and other park products and services will be forfeited and not refunded.”
And FWIW – the language on the website about people being banned from the parks if they lie to obtain DAS is not a new policy. It's been on the DAS website for over a year. pic.twitter.com/P0EkTM08GL

Controversy Ensues
This week, many fans were shocked when Disney announced its new DAS eligibility requirements. These changes were controversial, to say the least, and many fans with invisible disabilities fear they will not have access to the Disney DAS pass anymore. Some guests even fear they could be accused of lying about a disability and potentially receive a lifetime ban.
As Disney navigates these difficult new waters, fans will be closely watching to see what will happen to the many Disney Park guests who have been seemingly ousted from this program. Hopefully, we do not see another surge of guests who choose to lie to receive these pass benefits.
In order to avoid receiving a ban from guest services, it is important not to exaggerate or lie about any of your disabilities. Doing so could result in a ban, which can be difficult to appeal.
Obtaining a DAS pass under false pretenses not only undermines the purpose of the system but also detracts from the magical experience that Disney parks strive to offer. It is essential for all guests to act with integrity, honesty, and respect towards the rules and regulations in place to ensure that everyone can enjoy the wonders of the park equally and harmoniously.
