Disney for a Weekend- How to Plan a Weekend Getaway at Disney World Resort

So you’re going to Disney World, but you only have one weekend? No problem! There are plenty of steps you can take to make sure you get the most out of your vacation. We all know that finding something to do is surely not the problem, but what exactly to do, since there is so much to do. You don’t want to over plan, yet you don’t want to miss anything either. Here is what you need to think about when planning your weekend getaway at Disney World Resort.

8. Rest and Relaxation or Packed Schedule

First of all, you’ll want to decide if you are planning a vacation where you can spend time relaxing or if you want to utilize every minute. This will get the ball rolling on the planning process.

7. Stay on Disney Property

Since you won’t have a whole lot of time, you don’t want to waste any of it driving back and forth. If you stay on property, you can get back and forth to the parks and resorts in a matter of minutes.

6. Plan a Meal Every Day

Since you only have two or three days to really experience Disney World, make sure you plan a sit-down meal everyday. Maybe a dinner when you first get there, lunch or dinner the next day, and a breakfast before you leave. Just because you have a limited time, doesn’t mean you have to skimp on great meal experiences.

5. Park Hopper?

Decide if a park hopper is a good idea for your trip. Park hoppers are great because you can visit as many parks as you want in one day. This is great if you don’t have a lot of time, but still want to see everything Disney has to offer.

4. Decide What Parks You’ll Visit

Whether you are planning on doing a park hopper or not, you’ll want to decide what parks you’ll be visiting. Be realistic and plan for setbacks.

3. Plan Ahead

Since time is of the essence here, make sure you plan out the things that are important to you. Things such as making your Fastpass+ selections ahead of time or making dining reservations in advance can really save you loads of time and hassle.

2. Save Some Time for Downtime

With all that running around, you’re eventually going to get tired. And no one wants to be tired and grumpy while on vacation. It doesn’t end well. So maybe just take an hour or two to rest up!

1. Have Fun!

Most importantly, have fun! You’re only there for a short while and who knows when you’ll be back. So have fun, don’t sweat the small stuff!

Just because you don’t have tons of time to spend at Disney, doesn’t mean it can’t be fun and enjoyable. Follow these simple steps and I assure you will have a fantastic time!
