Disney Finally Reveals the Rides Coming to Villains Land at Magic Kingdom

Disney has spent the last two years keeping some of the biggest secrets surrounding Villains Land locked away.

Not anymore.

At D23 2026, Disney finally revealed major new information about the enormous expansion planned for Magic Kingdom. We now have an official name, a full storyline explaining why the villains are together, and, most importantly, new details about the two major attractions Disney plans to build.

One sends guests directly into Maleficent’s dangerous world. The other brings together numerous Disney Villains through the mysterious Magic Mirror.

And Disney appears to have much bigger ambitions for this project than simply adding a couple of rides.

Villains Land Is Official

Disney has officially settled on Villains Land as the name of the new Magic Kingdom area.

It’s a straightforward choice, but Imagineers said there was a reason behind it. With Fantasyland and Tomorrowland already part of Magic Kingdom, the creative team wanted the new area to feel like another major piece of the park.

The difference will be what happens once guests cross into it.

Villains Land revolves around a completely original fairytale rather than simply recreating one location from an animated story. Imagineers are using familiar Disney Villains as inspiration, but the land itself has its own mythology.

At the center of everything is a Wishing Well.

Someone once made an evil wish so powerful that it shattered the Well and sent corrupted magic spreading through the surrounding forest. That power eventually attracted villains who wanted it for themselves.

Those villains used the dark magic to create their own elaborate palaces and fortresses throughout the land.

That story gives Disney an easy way to bring characters from different animated worlds together while still making Villains Land feel like one connected place.

Maleficent Is Getting a Major Coaster

The biggest attraction reveal involves Maleficent.

Disney confirmed that one of Villains Land’s two major rides will be an ambitious coaster built around the Mistress of All Evil.

Guests will race through enchanted briars surrounding Maleficent’s fortress high atop a mountain. Disney describes the experience as an invitation from Maleficent herself, although accepting an invitation from one of Disney’s most dangerous villains probably isn’t the smartest vacation decision.

Imagineers are also making a significant promise about the ride.

Disney says the coaster will feature elements its team has never attempted on similar attractions before. The company hasn’t explained what those elements are, leaving the actual ride system and biggest surprises secret for now.

Still, the new information confirms Maleficent won’t simply make a cameo somewhere inside the land. She’s getting one of its centerpiece experiences.

The Magic Mirror Is Getting a Dark Ride

Villains Land’s other major attraction will offer something completely different.

Disney is developing a dark ride hosted by the Magic Mirror and featuring a larger group of Disney Villains.

Guests will first encounter the Magic Mirror in the catacombs underneath the Evil Queen’s palace. The Mirror will then transport riders into the mysterious Mirror Realm.

Once inside, guests will see multiple villains conjured by the Magic Mirror. Disney says Imagineers will combine physical sets with special effects to bring the characters and environments to life.

Disney hasn’t announced exactly which villains will appear, giving the company another major reveal to save for later.

Disney Is Going Big With Villains Land

The two attractions are only part of the story.

Disney compared the overall scale of Villains Land to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The area will also contain dining, shopping and other spaces built around the villains and the dark magic that shaped their homes.

Imagineers have even created a design philosophy called “Conjured Architecture,” inspired partly by research trips to Paris and Barcelona and architectural styles including Art Nouveau and Modernisme.

For the first time since Disney announced the project in 2024, we have a much clearer picture of what Villains Land will actually become.

A Maleficent coaster, a Magic Mirror dark ride, an original storyline and an expansion Disney itself is comparing in scale to Galaxy’s Edge make this much more than another Magic Kingdom addition.

Villains Land is starting to look like an entirely new side of Magic Kingdom.
