Disney+ Customers Lose $24.99 Rate as New Price Takes Effect September 17
Another streaming price increase is coming, and this time longtime Disney+ customers are the ones who need to pay attention.
Disney has confirmed that one of its discontinued streaming bundles will become more expensive beginning September 17, 2026. Customers currently paying $24.99 per month will see that price increase to $27.99.
On paper, it’s a difference of only $3.
But after years of streaming services competing for increasingly crowded household budgets, even relatively modest increases can make customers reconsider what they’re paying for every month.

What Disney+ Customers Currently Get for $24.99
The affected subscription is Disney’s Legacy Bundle, which packages three of the company’s major streaming brands together.
Subscribers receive Disney+ without ads, Hulu with ads, and ESPN Select with ads for $24.99 per month.
That price won’t last much longer.
The Legacy Bundle rises to $27.99 beginning September 17. Disney says customers who opted into the plan before August 20, 2026, will see the increase during their billing period on or after that date.
Subscribers therefore aren’t all necessarily going to receive a $27.99 charge on September 17 itself. The change depends on each customer’s billing cycle.
Once it arrives, however, keeping the same bundle for an entire year will cost $36 more than it previously did.
There’s a Catch if You Cancel
Normally, customers responding to a streaming price increase have a simple option: cancel now and subscribe again whenever something worth watching arrives.
Legacy Bundle customers don’t have that flexibility.
The package has been discontinued for new subscriptions. Existing customers also can’t switch away from the Legacy Bundle and return to it later.
Anyone who gives up the $27.99 package will instead have to choose from Disney’s currently available plans if they decide to come back.
That could give longtime subscribers a reason to think twice before canceling.
Disney’s current Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Unlimited bundle starts at $35.99 per month. ESPN Unlimited offers a more comprehensive sports package than the ESPN Select service included with the Legacy Bundle.
A $44.99 version offers Disney+ and Hulu without ads, along with downloads. Ads can still appear with live broadcasts and certain content.
Suddenly, that $27.99 Legacy Bundle might not look quite as expensive.

The Streaming Value Question Is Getting Bigger
Disney’s challenge isn’t happening in isolation.
The streaming landscape has become increasingly fragmented as entertainment companies have built separate platforms around their own movies, television shows, and sports programming.
For consumers, that can mean paying several different monthly bills just to access everything they want.
It’s a far cry from the early promise that streaming could offer a simpler alternative to expensive traditional television packages.
Customers now routinely have to decide which services provide enough value to remain active throughout the year.
That’s why another $3 matters.
It isn’t necessarily the increase by itself. It’s the increase alongside every other subscription competing for the same household budget.
Disney’s New Price Arrives in September
For Legacy Bundle subscribers, there isn’t much ambiguity about what happens next.
The $24.99 monthly price is going away.
Beginning with applicable billing periods on or after September 17, customers who keep their Legacy Bundle will pay $27.99 each month.
The question is whether subscribers consider the bundle valuable enough to absorb another increase.
Walking away can save money immediately. But because Disney has retired the package, customers won’t be able to change their minds later and reclaim the same deal.
In an era when consumers are increasingly willing to cancel streaming subscriptions, that may be exactly what makes this particular price increase harder to ignore.
