It would be best if you avoided these costly mistakes while planning your Walt Disney World vacation. Planning can be overwhelming and stressful, but you will want to consider these common mistakes before your trip. By doing that, you can go into your trip with a plan of attack to overcome them.

Not Having a Portable Charger

Over the last few years, phones have become extremely important to a Walt Disney World vacation. Because your phone is essential to your trip, we highly recommend ensuring everyone in your travel party has a portable charger. 

If you do forget your phone charger, don’t panic. Fuel rod stations throughout the Theme Park allow you to purchase a charger. Although this isn’t the cheapest option, it is better than being in the dark all day.

Guests will want to ensure they have access to Disney’s official app, My Disney Experience, throughout the day. This is where they will see wait times, mobile orders, book Genie+, and more. 

You want to avoid this costly mistake during your Walt Disney World vacation.

Weather Happens

Walt Disney World is a magical place; however, weather of all types does happen. It can greatly impact your vacation if you don’t plan.

For those traveling during the warmer months, which is the majority of the year, ensure you have ways to battle the heat and humidity. Think about sunscreen, hats, fans, and cooling rags to help keep your body cool throughout the day.

Rain happens throughout the year at Walt Disney World. You will want to ensure you are prepared by having raincoats, ponchos, or umbrellas.

If you are heading down during winter, know that Disney also gets cold. Ensuring you have hats, scarves, mittens, etc., will keep you comfortable and enjoy the Parks.

If you don’t prepare for the weather that can occur during your Walt Disney World, it could be a costly mistake resulting in purchasing items that could have been taken care of ahead of time.

Transportation Issues

We love that Walt Disney World provides free transportation to and from the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, the four Theme Parks, water parks, and Disney Springs.

This complimentary transportation helps relieve the stress of driving out of the vacation.

This doesn’t mean that Disney transportation is without issues. Don’t let them ruin your trip if you run into long lines at the bus or Skyliner stations. Know that Disney is typically on top of it and will send more buses to help get everyone where they need to be quickly.

If you are in a big hurry, know that you choose to hire a ride-share service to get to and from your destinations. This can sometimes save you time but might cost more depending on surge pricing so keep that in mind.

Don’t let transportation be an issue during your vacation by planning plenty of time to get around so you aren’t stressed.

Dining Problems

Food is a big part of a Disney vacation, but if you think you can just go with the flow of food, you will be mistaken. Remember, dining reservations can be made ahead of time. If you still need to do so, you can always use the walk-up waitlist many restaurants offer on My Disney Experience. Remember that this is limited and you must be in the area to sign up.

If you can’t get into the restaurant you want to, look at the lounges. Many of the fantastic lounges, such as Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, also offer a walk-up list which is a great alternative to popular restaurants.

For those wanting to eat at a quick service location, remember that you will want to use mobile ordering. Try to plan to place mobile orders for prime eating time. You can place orders anytime throughout the day, so we highly recommend doing so before everyone is hungry.

Don’t let mobile ordering or a lack of dining reservations impact your Walt Disney World vacation. Instead, have a plan ahead of time or be willing to adjust your plans if needed.

Disappointment

A significant mistake you will want to avoid during your Walt Disney World vacation is disappointment when things aren’t perfect.

Having rides gone down that you have been waiting to experience can be unpleasant. Talk to Cast Members in the area to learn more about what is happening. They will be able to help you more and let you know what your options are moving forward.

Disney works hard to keep rides up and running, but sometimes they must shut down for an extended time. Don’t get stuck on that one issue; instead, use that time to go and experience other rides and shows you might not have called to initially. You might find your favorite ride.
